Higly recommended, yummy food, simple place but very delish food, We had buffet and payed around 30 000 (around 1 euro) for huge plates with at least 5-7 different dishes.
Having visited this lovely restaurant twice on the two days I was in Hue I find the negative reviews about it extremely puzzling. Firstly, I find it extremely hard to believe that they would ever try to rip off anyone. This is a thoroughly local and authentic Vietnamese restaurant, very popular with locals, not touristy at all. And it's the touristy places where some might be tempted to start charging foreigners more. This isn't that kind of place. Previous claims of being cheated were more likely just misunderstanding. The staff speak no English at all. I had the com dia which they recommended by eagerly pointing at it on the menu on the wall when I walked in. It cost 20,000 a plate and consisted of a delightful and tasty mixture of items on rice, together with a small cold soup and a cup of tea. It was not at all greasy or fake meat heavy, but had a number of vegetables. It consisted of the following. .. chicken type strips, bamboo shoots nicely sour, tofu in a tomato dressing, green beans, carrots, cabbage, meaty strips wrapped in a green leaf, and a savoury oblong of dry rice noodle. I found it all very tasty, but if you want to pep it up there is also a superb chilli paste in a jar on every table. I actually are there on Christmas day and it was certainly one of the most memorable Christmas dinners I've ever had!
After these ladies tried to tout us as we walked past and started filling plates with rice without even ordering anything, we finally managed to establish that their prices for foreigners were 200-300% of that on their menu. Went next door instead: gorgeous people, lovely food.
