Olympia - Hoyerswerda

General/Ambience As a subscriber to our local daily newspaper, there are vouchers for restaurants or discounted admission to various localities. Last time it was again so far, a voucher for the restaurant Olympia in Hoyerswerda promised that for two people the cheaper main food is free. Of course, we and our friends like to use these offers, and the name in our opinion promised a Greek restaurant. So at GG searched for locality, visited website and not badly stunted. It was the speech of good-bourgeois cuisine. Tried? Reading? No, everything had its correctness, it is a restaurant that has been in that location since 1956. So the question to the boss why this name? Explanation: when in the 50ér and 60ér years large residential colonies were built for brown coal mining in Hoyerswerda, each residential complex was given a number(WK 5 and also a name. Thus, the WK VII got the subsidiary name “Freizeit Complex Ost”, the associated restaurant was baptized in “Olympia” according to leisure/sport. This was similar in the other WK areas, and the respective restaurant was correspondingly baptized, for example, in the WK VI to the “Kosmonautenviertel” the restaurant “Libelle”, in the WK IV, the musical district called the “Melodie”. The streets were named according to musicians, cosmonauts and similar. The “Olympia” is located a bit away from the city centre of Hoyerswerda directly on a small park and, like the whole city, is built in plate construction. The interior is rustic, with many small and larger seat niches separated from each other. In the outdoor area there is a large covered beer garden, decorated with all kinds of flower bowls. Inside like outside you sit very cozy. We were served by a young gentleman (the son of the boss, who is always very friendly, fleeing and concerned with the welfare of his guests. For the choice of drinks he gave us time to browse in the map. The ordering of the drinks and the food from the very extensive menu list was then carried out together, as the service had to do well in the fully equipped beer garden. The ordered drinks Wittichenauer Pilsner for the gentlemen and wine choir for the ladies came quickly, the appetizers came after a pleasant waiting period, the main dishes were served together after about half an hour. Nice gesture of the house, we wanted a “Ossenkamp” as a perseverance, but unfortunately there was only one “sleep” left. Our regret seems to have felt at the boss, and so we were divided into four of us each having a small swallow(ca. 2 cl of the last “Ossenkamp” on account of the house. Very good and friendly service. Food A very extensive map with regional products, wild, fish and also in Chinese one tries. The prices of the dishes are between €6 and €15, which I consider to be very reasonable We decided as an appetizer for a Wan Tan soup a ́ 3,60 € and a Soljanka a ́ 2,80 €. The plate or the cup were neatly filled. The Wan Tan soup was with plenty of vegetables as well as Morcheln and four dough shells with minced meat filling and spring onions. The sauce tasted too much to me personally after sesame oil, otherwise it was slightly sharp and sufficient. The Soljanka was plentiful with sausage and acidic cucumber, the sauce was beautifully thickened, only the sawn had crumbled. As a main dish we chose two rustic pork fillets served on a saucepan with roasted onions, champignons, a juicy sauce, a colorful salad and potato croquets a ́ 12,95 €, a wild boar lobe with burgundy sauce, cream rose cabbage and homemade late zle a ́ 13,80 € as well as pork medallions roasted in a fine potato coat. The ladies actually wanted to eat a salad plate as an appetizer, but the service stopped because the portions would be sufficiently large, which ultimately confirmed. The pork fillets with onions were in my opinion a little too long in the pan, the sauce a little salty, the salad tasty, the croquettes normal Convienceware. The slices from the wild boar lobe were tender, the rose cabbage crisp, the late zle buttersoft. Here, too, the rose cabbage TK was merchandise. The pork medal with cheese coat was also delicate and tasty, the potato bags ok, but also here Convience. Overall, eating was good and ok for this price. In total, we reacted with additional few beers and two regrets € 82.00. Cleanliness The restaurant and the beer garden tip topp clean, the toilets also fine and there is nothing to complain about. Food was great again. We had a Christmas party. Since I came later, I had to wait a long time for a drink. There was a need to ask. The waiter was great, the waitress was a little lustless.
