Bidrage med feedbackThe last few years have seen an explosion of Chinese restaurants popping up all throughout the loop and most of them specialize in Sichuan cuisine. Of all the hot spots #1 , I find that Mama's Kitchen has been the most consistent and at times, one of the better options in this part of town. There are only a handful of parking spots out front and the plaza that it's located in is way smaller than it looks. That also means the interior is on the smaller side, but it's sufficient enough to handle big groups and intimate booths. It's a clean dining room and can probably fit up to 50 folks at once. It's rarely busy here, so I wouldn't worry too much about getting a table pending party size. I wish the adjacent lot was connected, which would alleviate some of the access issues from Richmond Ave.Interior and parking logistics aside, the food is the true highlight. Their variety is not too dissimilar from what's offered at the competing establishments around, but their execution and service is better overall. Their braised soft bacon 梅菜扣肉 is so fatty that it melts in the mouth, best enjoyed with rice. The salted egg yolk corn 金沙玉米 is simple compared to the rest of their dishes, but well done enough to where I'd order it over and over. Their broiled fish in hot oil 水煮魚 is soft and very authentic. One of the best things they serve is the braised red pork 紅燒肉 which is as homey and as savory sweet as one would want. For non-spicy eaters, beware of the dishes that have a pepper listed next to it.As noted, the service is what sets them apart in my eyes from the rest. I realize that the catered audience is mainly non-Chinese, but that hasn't compromised the authenticity of the dishes in the least bit.__________ #1 Just all me Pun P.
Great location, no reservation needed and limited but available parking. Walked in on a Friday evening at 730 and was seated immediately. Staff was super friendly and attentive, consistently refilling our water. Food was sooo delicious and authentic. Be careful if you can't handle spice because it's definitely high levels of spice but the flavor profiles are incredible it's definitely worth it. My favorite was the cumin beef and the shrimp and beef sizzling pot. The pork belly was also very yummy but if you're not a fan of fatty meat maybe skip this one. Cabbage was nice and crispy as well. Would eat here anytime! Definitely recommend.
The ambiance is business casual with tasteful minimalist decor. The service was absolutely incredible !!! Our waitress was incredibly kind, sweet, and quick. She kept kindly checking up on us and when we over-ordered, she quickly canceled one of our dishes. The chefs were also very very fast and got the food out literally within 5 minutes of ordering. The food was SOOOOO GOOODDDD omggg. The peppercorns actually made our lips and mouths numb like they're supposed to, and the chilies were deliciously spicy and packed with flavor and umami. The food was a bit salty, but I was still a very happy little boy.
Me and my friends always love coming here! The service is quick and the food is fantastic. I recommend getting the mapo tofu it’s a staple for me and my friends. This time we got The Szechuan style lamb, sweet sour cucumber, bok choy, and Dan Dan noodles. All of it was delicious, family style is always the way to go I haven’t had a bad dish here!
I've eaten at mamas kitchen several times both in person and take out! This one is dedicated to the take out meals in the picture you have rolling juicy tofu with seafood and one of my favorite mama's kitchen fish!! The flavor and the spice level for both just complements each other and I can't stop eating rice with it! I've also had the beef with tofu as takeout and that's also amazing. Highly recommend! The service is fast in person, clean vibes with Chinese people serving Ambiance nice family friendly, decent parking in the lot
