Bidrage med feedbackThe dining room at the Omni Homestead was not even close to the fine culinary experience we had expected. First we sat next to a dirty waiter station with dirty dishes and napkins that were stacked on it. The service was bad from the start with our waiter never explain the menu, dishes or courses in general. He was pushy and rude about the order and repeatedly did not repeat to order from the top of the menu. It was not clear that these were free hors d'oeuvres and he seemed angry with us to ask questions. When we got the first course, he pulled the pre-drawn Hors d'Oeuvres from behind the same dirty waiter's station that sat there for who knows how long. They tasted old and some were bred. When we asked for a drink menu, we got the same answer many other diners complained - they only had a few options, otherwise they would have to go all the way to the other bar. I asked about a Cabernet sauvignon, he said okay and wanted to run away. My husband asked what exactly he would bring, what was the brand or was there options? He didn't know I ordered my usual Louis Martini. I also asked about any main course supplements or upgrades like a steak we could order, and he said I had to go to Jackson's. Then I asked what Chateaubriand was, and he said oh, that a steak... would have been helpful to go through the menu at any point. The service and the overall experience were very disappointing. I would not recommend or go back until they make some important changes to training staff and menu.
Fixed price for dinner, $95 per person, although my children rejected almost all unusual options. Apart from the filet mignon that was very good, it was mostly for me, Dad, as well. I heard people supplement the food here, which is difficult to understand, as most items are safe frozen and microwaves. For some reason, they also refuse the service in the restaurants after 8 so if you are a late meal, just plan to go. The dining room service is about as poor as you can imagine without asking if you need anything. After the order we waited for about 30 min before we could ask for some bread, wherupon he brought 3 pieces for the 4 of us. He also forgot to bring our desserts, and was generally so slow that the entire experience lasted about 2.5 hours. Remember that if he had only 1-2 other tables to operate. Grumpy, if you ask for an alcoholic drink because he explains that he must go to the bar in the next room to get it. For this price and the expected $90 tip, you would think that we would be eating and drinking without complaint. Unless you have a lot of money and time to waste, I would recommend to everyone to skip the formal dining room as a whole and go on site when Woody's and the Jefferson Restaurant are closed (what happens a lot). Jefferson Restaurant is very good, and is enough to be the only fine culinary experience of this beautiful resort. Try the Mac and cheese without lobster, fillet mignon and swordfish. To die. Enjoy your stay! If someone from the resort reads this, please close the dining room and make the Jefferson Restaurant open 7 days a week and 10 a.m. You'll be surprised how well this works.
During the COVID they only make their breakfast buffet, which was sincerely disappointed. We have free breakfast by Amex, which is good because there is no possibility that it is worth $32 per person. The potato tap was good and also the Omelette Station. Skip pancakes and cold biscuits and Gravy. The cinnamonuts were also good. Three stars, because the setting is really cool. More sprinkler heads than I've ever seen before.
Bread. Heated, lukewarm, expensive food. Average for best service. Are you going to Jefferson? Very disappointed.
Expensive and very small portions however absolutely delicious. The entre's are exquisite.
