We've visited hornsea many times over the years and have always seen chip n gails on the way down to the hub car park. This time we thought we would try it due to the countless good reviews, but we're left feeling more than a little disappointed. Chips they were a mix of beige slush and dark brown over fried crisps. None of which tasted great. Fish Top batter was okay, the underside was soggy and the fish tasted odd. Battered sausage they were the only good thing we had that evening (hence the two star review). I don't know if it was just the night we ordered or the batch of potatoes they'd had in, or the fish that was fried straight from the freezer, but it was really not worth the £30+ we spent including drinks. Service was good though, everyone was pleasant, and it seems like a loved local take away. Perhaps another time it would have been different?
