Really nice wines at this good bar/cafe in the centre of Horben. Its a small village but really quite charming. Service was good, wine recommendations were great and it was a great way to chill out.

I was able to spend some time here with the slight relaxation of travel restrictions troughout Europe. Wonderful, creative, tasty food, excellent service. Give it a go for a lovely food experience in Horben. The deserts were absolutely outstanding. Thank you for a great evening.

We visited Schauinsland and wanted lunch when we came down from the top and looked for the nearest restaurant. We drove the few km to Horben and sat outside in this quiet small town. We felt immediately welcome and the food we got was absolutely excellent. I can only recommend to go here for lunch or dinner when visiting the Schauinsland mountain.

If you stay in Freiburg the free tram and bus ticket you are given at your hotel check in will bring you here for nothing. Catch the tram and change to a bus until the end of its route in Horben, and then spend an hour in this cafe waiting for the return bus. It is down the hill to the Dorfcafe to sample the outstanding coffee and cakes (especially the Black Forest Gateau for which any diet should be abandoned). Try to translate the testimonial on the wall from the visiting Japanese professor who made this place his favourite trip out of town. It is a friendly chalet style cafe in a pretty hamlet the local church, which we found open, is worth a visit too.
