Ahi's Backyard Barbecue - HOOD RIVER

We ordered the Kahuna Combo and it was amazing! The juicy Kailua pork and tender chicken were delicious. The combo included two servings of rice and two servings of macaroni salad. It was a great deal at $13 and the portion size was huge. We were visiting from Southern California and we are so glad we decided to stop by this restaurant!

The standout dish for me at this restaurant is the Kahlua pig. It is tender and juicy, with the perfect amount of smokiness. Outside, they have a large BBQ where they cook huli chicken while you wait, giving off a Hawaiian aroma. The BBQ sauce reminded me of a similar dish I had in Oahu; sweet with a hint of seasoning. I could put it on any type of meat! The sides included scoops of sticky rice and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was creamy with crunchy pieces of fresh vegetables. A slice of fresh pineapple was the perfect way to end the meal. I am willing to drive back from Portland just to eat this dish again. Bring cash and enjoy it by the waterfront.
