Bidrage med feedbackAlthough Gulati's Indian Restaurant located in Altona has been opened since 1999, it was only recently that my family decided to sample their cuisine & opted to do so via means of a home delivery.[ Service ]:The ordering process was trouble free and we were impressed with how prompt the meals arrived & pleased that the food had retained its heat throughout the journey. Portion sizes were decent, although when it comes to curry, there never seems to be enough! [ The Selection is Quite Extensive ]:Being first time customers we decided upon a wide selection of dishes to showcase what Gulati's have on offer. My son chose the Chicken Makanwalla with Garlic Naan whilst my husband picked the Mysore Chilli Chicken with Saffron. Being a creature of habit I chose Chicken Vindaloo with Plain Rice and Raita. At a total cost of $47.00 for seven [7] dishes plus delivery the prices are very reasonable. The flavours were delicious & the sauces thick & rich. As anticipated, the Raita was delightfully refreshing whilst everyone agreed that the various rice dishes had been cooked perfectly. [ Second Time Around was Just as Good ]:With our first dining experience with Gulati's having been a success it was only a week later that we again ordered a range of dishes to enjoy at home. All the personal favourites made their way home again with additional servings this time of Lamb Nawambi with Rice plus Shabnab Curry Vegetables. Total cost that time for nine [9] items was $64.00 inclusive of delivery which, in our opinion is still entirely appropriate as to portion sizes and quality. In every instance the meat in our dishes was lovely & soft having soaked up much of the flavours whilst the vegetable curry was jam packed full of mushroom and peas.Regards spice despite requesting 'extra hot' the heat levels were disappointing as none of us 'raised a sweat', however it is appreciated that this is very subjective & no doubt difficult for Chefs to gauge from one customers perspective to anothers.[Summary]:At this juncture as we have yet to dine in at the Restaurant itself we cannot comment in regards to décor, ambiance or service. The venue however is easy to reach with it being situated directly opposite the Westona Railway Station.Overall we would have to say that Gulati's Indian Restaurant in Altona has something for everyone. Dishes can be catered so as to be suitable for young ones & with plenty of rice & vegetable options you can round out your meal nicely. With fair prices & local delivery we definitely will continue to include this venue on our speed dial, maybe you will add them too!Thank you for reading this review, we hope that it has been helpful.
They have one of the best paneer pakodha's. Good food, good ambience, good staff.... away from hustle n bustle ....
The food was served promptly, but some of us at the table wished the wait staff had been more attentive so that we could have ordered dessert and coffee. Additionally, we had to wait longer than desired for our table to be cleared after we finished our meal. Despite the minor inconveniences, we all agreed that sitting amongst dirty dishes was not the most pleasant experience, no matter how delicious the food was. I personally didn't need the pistachio kulfi, although it is one of my favorites. Despite this, we will definitely be returning to try more dishes in the future.
We have been frequenting this restaurant for quite some time and have never been let down. The food is expertly prepared, of high quality, and delicious. It can be adjusted to suit your preferences, whether you prefer mild or spicy flavors. The staff is friendly and provides great service. Once a year, they host a Bollywood night which is a blast. You should definitely check it out - you won't be disappointed.
I have been dining at Gulati's for many years and I have no desire to eat anywhere else.
