We’re truly puzzled about the bad reviews. We just had dinner here (13 June 2023) and we were very impressed by the dishes we had. The lamb rump and braised beef cheek were very well prepared and cooked. Lamb was definitely tender and delicious. Beef cheek was well braised and so tender to bite. Overall this is the restaurant we’d come back to when we go back to Hobart.
We were in Hobart for five nights and chose the Tasman restaurant for dinner to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary, While the entrees were passable the main meals were very disappointing. 1. They were cold obviously had been left on a counter for some time 2. I had what what was called lamb shoulder. It should be renamed old mutton as not only was it cold but tough as nails. I could not cut it with the knife provided so asked for a steak knife. It was still very hard to cut and frankly inedible. They should be ashamed to serve up such rubbish. The staff member we complained to became very defensive and obviously was not going to do anything about other than take our money.
Booked afternoon tea, booking only required to ensure food offered is ready. Food prepared ahead of time, too much time. Jam/cream light in offering. Ordered a cheese platter that had more crackers than cheese. There was no atmosphere or vibe. Lovely view sadly not sufficient enough to return.
We had slow cooked lamb shoulder and the king fish. Cooked perfectly, happy days. Waitress who looked after us Jessie was lovely.
