The Unicorn Inn - Hinckley and Bosworth

Checked into restaurant by a young lady, ordered drinks, no interest in us at all. Told the table number, and waited ,wasn't told we had to order at the bar. Eventually we ordered, the food came within minutes. The dishes were scalding hot,been under a light I suspect. Sausage cheap,veg had no taste. The roasters had been fried in fat fryer and tasted awful,was dirty fat I think. Paid bill and left. Had booked for boxing day,but cancelled it. This place needs a new chef and some serious staff training.. Would definitely not recommend.

The lunch menu at this restaurant is excellent, offering filling dishes at affordable prices. We tried the all day breakfast for £8.75, but they also offer soup and sandwiches for £7.95, as well as many other options. This menu is available during mid-week lunchtimes and judging by the crowd in the pub, it is very popular.

I had heard great things about The Unicorn from a friend, so I made a reservation for Sunday at 6:30pm. When we arrived, there were more staff than customers. Unfortunately, the staff seemed more focused on their own conversations rather than providing good service. We were told to choose our own table as the restaurant was empty. We sat in the bar area and looked over the menu. I had to go back to the bar to order drinks and food as no one came to take our order. The food, when it arrived, was delicious. However, the service was lacking. No one checked on our meal or offered dessert. We left just before 8pm as the staff seemed eager for us to pay and go. The bill was quickly processed and we were handed the card machine almost immediately. I was surprised as I thought the restaurant was open until 11pm. With my background in hospitality, I know that service should be top-notch, especially when there are fewer customers. This experience has made me hesitant to return to The Unicorn, even though the food was excellent.

Large party of 18 , for a 65th birthday. Second visit too the Unicorn and not disappointed. Food was excellent, First class . Service was fantastic by the young waiters and waitresses. Bar staff very polite and friendly . Definitely return.
