The Avenue - High Shincliffe

This restaurant needs removing from your site as it is no longer open. You are accepting bookings for this but it is CLOSED and has been for some time. We turned up on Sunday for lunch and all doors were locked. and so had to run round different places to try and find a table for lunch.

I’ve rated everything low, not because we ate there, but because it was CLOSED. Which we didn’t find out until we arrived there! APPALLING.

We booked a table for lunch last Saturday, but when we arrived the pub was closed with no sign explaining why. I was with my elderly parents who are n a care home, so it was really stressful finding another place for lunch at such short notice. We won’t be going to the Avenue again.

Best Sunday roast in Durham. Friendly staff even though it was very busy. Beef was tender and the gravy and potatoes are amazing. Usually have 1-2 good cask ales on and they are always kept well. Very reasonably priced considering the serving size and how well everything is prepared. Top notch.

Disappointed with choice of beers again, no guiness and no guest ales which are usually available. Food was good and so was service
