Wine list too. we're coming back. Other menus are also available.
As described above, le jardin des sens could be a Michelin star restaurant. the food is almost at this level! The value for money is far beyond that of a restaurant in the leading role: generous portions, 90s-style dining decoration and naturally tasty. the maitre d 'ho was...friendly without being obsequious. the foreign waitress on the other side could have been more reliable, friendly and good, she could improve her hair. the dining room has some unique paintings on the wall; I wish the weather had allowed us to gedint on the infamous garden. I recommend you to apply if possible. great experience, would like to go back!
My family lives around hennebont and I often spend a part of my vacation there. we try to go to this restaurant at least once a year. it is more expensive than other places in the neighbourhood, but the prices are still reasonable, and the cooks. do really excellent and complex work with fresh products, so they claim to demand higher prices. her sommelier is very competent. two of us had tataki of tuna, it was excellent, and the third one took a rash and was also very satisfied with it. sweet and sauces are impressive. some appetizers and desserts are really excellent, some are not always convincing. I'd rather guess cold, fresh starters, they were always very nice. for desserts I do not order their various caramel stuff that are too sweet. but their cakes and cheese are excellent. you should know that their kitchen is less salty than average French restaurants. this is better to feel the taste of the products, but it could surprise some people. they like sweet ingredients, so if they don't like sweet vinegar or apples in appetizers or even main courses, care. but for my taste it is perfect.
I came to this restaurant with my two teenagers on Friday 3 April 2015 and the experience overall was very good. The food was excellent, imaginative, tasteful. The reception was very good. And as for price, i do not think that this restaurant was expensive...at all for the quality, it is what i expected, cheaper to what i would normally pay to be frank, coming from abroad.
We ate dinner at Le Jardin des Sens in Hennebont in early October, and we were quite disappointed in the meal. [Note – the name of the restaurant is actually Au Jardin des Sens. On the positive side, the view from the restaurant’s terrace of...the soaring Gothic church spire is very impressive, and the wine list is good – we had a fine Menetou-Salon, from the Domaine Chatenoy. The meal began with an inedible amuse-bouche, a warm orange-colored goo (squash? squash and chestnut? to be sipped from shot glass with a straw. We were unable to finish it. One of our first courses was excellent: four grilled scallops with leeks, chorizo and millefeuille pastry. The other was simply strange: a sort of ravioli with a minced seafood stuffing, really a goo of mystery flavors with no hint of which seafood species were used. Our main courses were St. Pierre (perch and sole meuniere; the fish was well prepared, but the sole was the whole fish(! and the waiter offered no help with the deboning. At this price point – around 150 Euros – one would have expected more. The St. Pierre came with a “garnish” which was shaved ice with shaved ginger and lemon peel, a cold and weird mouth feel indeed. In addition, it melted into nothingness. Both fish had a puddle of beetroot puree as a sauce, along with an additional mysterious opaque sauce in each case. The sauces simply made no sense! What about some capers, some butter-browned almonds, a simple beurre blanc?! One of our desserts was heavily caramelized sheets of puff pastry separated by whipped cream; impossible to chew, this gunk coated the teeth and threatened to remove all dental work! As a parting gift, our young waiter was so unfamiliar with the mobile credit card scanner that he was unable to make our credit card without microchip work. We paid cash – very irritating.
