Bidrage med feedbackFabulous Mother's Day brunch! Food was excellent and the service was top notch!
Our group of 5 ladies enjoy getting together once a month for good visits and wonderful food. We are always pleased with our orders.
I had an amazing experience at Janelas! The service was fantastic, the location was beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which I loved so much that I almost took half of it home, but ended up finishing it all. My server, Mo, was excellent and made the visit even better. I can't wait to go back, especially to see her! If you haven't tried Janelas yet, I highly recommend it!
We placed our drink orders and, while the wait for them was a bit lengthy, we understood that it was a busy time. Once our drinks arrived, we handed over our food orders. However, we only caught a glimpse of the other server once or twice as she tended to the golfers, and then she vanished. As we approached the hour mark without our food, I decided to check in with our server at the bar regarding the status of our meal. To my surprise, she asked if she hadn’t brought our food out yet. At that point, we chose to leave. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed, and I wondered what had happened to the other server—perhaps she was stuck in the kitchen. In situations like these, it would have been helpful for the manager to step in to assist or at least inform us about the staffing issues and the potential wait times. Alternatively, closing the restaurant might have been a better choice if they couldn't adequately serve their guests. One member of our party noticed that the large table had already finished their meals and most of the golfers were done as well. As regular patrons of this establishment, we plan to discuss our experience with the manager. Our main concern was simply waiting longer than we should have.
I understand that food prices have increased due to the economy, but if I'm being charged $20 extra per person, I expect to see the same quality of food and options as before. This year, the only protein selections were ham and prime rib; there were zero choices for those who don’t eat meat. In the past, there were various options like turkey or other proteins, but this time there was nothing. Last year, they offered bagels and lox, but this year there was none of that—just a chocolate-covered marshmallow for dessert instead of the lovely petite cakes shown in pictures. The decorations looked more like something from a dollar store rather than the beautiful flowers adorning each table in previous years. The automatic gratuity of 28% on a $142 pre-tax bill was baffling—what was I paying for? Serving water? They could have left the water on the table; I even waited five minutes for a clean fork. When I ordered a house wine, the price had gone up from $9 to $12 per glass. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with what was supposed to be a special occasion. There are far better places at the same price point. It feels like an insult to hardworking retirees just looking for a nice brunch treat. The quality of food has noticeably declined since the pandemic, and I’ve learned my lesson—next time I’ll skip it. As for my Cobb salad, I’ve had to ask about the bacon bits, crispy blue cheese, and avocado on the last three occasions. These are standard components of a Cobb salad! I shouldn't have to keep asking.
