L D Chinese Buffet - Helena

I am improving my rating of three to four stars. this place is really well reviewed some great changes in their menu in the last few years. two of us and a child were only $24 for lunch. suppe for very good, and everything was very fresh and new foods come again and again. also, probably some of the most friendly and friendly staff everywhere. we love to come here!

First off, I do have to note that everything looked nice! The food was hot, and was better than most people had led me to believe. In comparison to the way L&D's food used to be, it could use a little bit of tweaking. The flavors are a bit more dull than they used to be, yet still are good. They now sell Coke products instead of Pepsi for those that care. The only choices for people who don't drink soda are lemonade which is kind of sour, ice tea, hot tea, and water. The wait staff was a bit intense. They were at our table every 5 minutes the entire time we were there. So all in all in my experience it wasn't horrible, but there is room for improvement.

The food here is average at best. I had the beef and broccoli wasn’t really cooked all the way. The sweet and sour chicken was pretty decent and the fried dough ball was pretty good. It wasn’t that clean when I was there though and the service wasn’t great. My stomach also didn’t feel too good the rest of the day either.

We walked in an hour before close and there was nobody there on a Sunday. The lady/owner hovered over our table reached over our food and cracked our crab legs for us repeatedly like more than three times. I've never been to a place were the staff invite themselves to touch your food. Seriously she just started grabbing our food. The food was so-so, some of it tasted like it wasn't cooked thoroughly. The selection isn't great. Prices are kind of high for the quality and selection. Probably won't be back. The service was pretty good all things considered except for the gal touching our food that was not cool.

OService is great but they leave food out too long before refreshing it. Nothing is worse than chewy stale dumplings or fried food that is like leather. The variety is good. It's too bad that I didn't get to taste it fresh. The flavor was good. Nice try, I was there at 6:30pm and asleep in bed in my hotel at 9pm. Shame on you.
