Wirtshaus Zum Seppl - Heidelberg

Spent a lot of time there (if same place) when stationed at army hospital Heidelberg in 64/65. Great times... what a duty station... I sure remember the glass boot full of bier and not to have the toe pointed up when starting to drink. good recall for almost 60 years now.

This joint was our hangout when I was stationed in Heidelberg in 68/69. Ox tail soup, brauts and beer. Beer came in a glass boot and the next one was bought by the previous one who couldn't chug it. To be 22, single and stationed in Heidelberg. Such is life. Everything is good. highly recommend

Worth noting that any bookings taken for the summer are then accommodated at Kulturbrauerei just around the corner this threw us a little when we arrived to find the shutters down! Once we found the new destination we enjoyed a great meal and some excellent beer. We were promised some German folk music with our original booking which didn’t materialise

The most “German” food I had during my whole Germany stay. I got the sauerbraten below, my friends ordered a couple of other dishes like schnitzel and veal, which were also equally as great. Beers are cheap. Someone was playing on the live piano, which was nice and got people singing. The only downside I’d say is there was no circulation up in this whole place! It was cold outside but the restaurant was hot and stuffy!
