The Southern Brew Trading - Heflin

My husband's family in Heflin brings us to the town several times a year. Recently, we discovered Southern Brew, a charming cafe recommended by my uncle-in-law. We finally had the chance to visit on our latest trip. The cafe is mainly a coffee shop with a cozy atmosphere, featuring plenty of tables and chairs, and unique bed benches against the wall. The bar area offers a selection of beer, coffee, and tea, as well as delicious meal buffets. Additionally, there is a small boutique inside selling locally made products and trendy clothes. The staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing us to browse despite our limited time. I grabbed a refreshing sweet iced tea as we left, and it was delightful. Overall, Southern Brew is a great addition to Heflin, perfect for a quick stop on your travels or to support local businesses in Alabama. I can't wait to visit again on our next trip to town.

Update: I revisited Southern Brew and noticed they had changed the layout quite a bit. The swing beds were moved outside, and now the interior has plain chairs instead. While not a major issue, it did make the space less unique. It's unclear whether they want to be a restaurant, cafe, shop, or music venue. It's a bit confusing for customers like me, not knowing if it's more appropriate to just buy a drink, look at items for sale, or order food. Despite this, I still recommend it as a charming meeting spot with good drinks. Hopefully, they will find their niche soon as the location is great, and the staff is very friendly.
