Thank goodness I have at last visited this unique Tea Rooms.. set off the main road into Havent with parking nearby plus bus stops round the corner.. The 1940s Tea Room is just like walking back in time when you stayed or visited your Grandparents or at my age my mum had lots of things that are inside. It's decked out with everything 1940 from crockery to table clothes even Tea pots with cosies teastrainer.. The menu is delicious from Lancaster Breakfast to Afternoon Tea everything in-between..even the little ones can have a ration bag.. They even have an old air raid shelter where you can book to have a cosy Afternoon Tea. Food was delicious service was great such a lovely atmosphere.. Like 1940s there is no central heating so if you feel chilly ask for blanket or staff happy to bring heater so don't complain your cold All four of us had a fabulous lunch..so hurry on down find this little gem.. Thanks Jacquie staff for a great lunch
I loved the atmosphere! I'm 64 and it brought back such a lot of childhood memories because my late parents had so many things in our home. The food and drinks were excellent. The cakes are HOMEMADE! I always say that homemade cakes are far nicer than factory sourced cakes and this proved no exception. I would have loved a second slice of coffee and walnut cake but I'm already overweight! My friend had a panini and enjoyed it too. Tea was loose leaf in a tea pot with strainer! None of this modern tea bag stuff! Everything in 1940's style! We visited with our Registered Assistance Dogs, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Also, they provide a ramp so I was able to get my wheelchair inside. Note that the toilet is too small to accommodate a wheelchair but there is a very good grab rail by the toilet that is very helpful. You need to be able to walk from the toilet door to the toilet to use it if you are a wheelchair user. Staff also try to be deaf aware. It's almost like having a meal in a museum! Brilliant to take children as part of a history lesson! Strongly recommend a visit. My friend lives locally so she comes here often but I live over 100 miles away. I hope to go back next time I'm the area.
The food and service is very good, however please be advised at this time of year to be prepared to wear thermals, keep your top coat on and possibly gloves. The place has very little or no heat inspite a warm glowing mock fire! Not good with freezing temperatures outside.
Everything about our visit was amazing, the minute you walk in, you are greeted with a warmth. The atmosphere the staff the food. All of it was amazing. So much yo take in and enjoy. Thank you to all the team who work there and the chef is amazing everything we ordered was perfect.
