Brasserie Brakstad - Haugesund

Always good food here and great service and saved the evening after a terrible meal elsewhere.

I have once again been let down by the food at Brakstad. Unfortunately, there is always a long time between my visits because each time I hope for improvement but am disappointed. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a good atmosphere and great service, but the food is lacking. The menu items and concept of each dish are promising, but they fall short in quality and taste. The main issue is the lack of seasoning, resulting in an average dining experience. Gordon Ramsay once said that dining out should offer food that you can't replicate at home, but unfortunately, the food at Brakstad is something I could easily make at home and it would taste better. The steak I ordered was small for the price and overcooked, despite requesting it medium. It's a shame because they have a good menu, but their execution falls short. I may wait a while before giving it another try.

We had a terrible experience with the service at this restaurant. The waiter was rude and unwilling to accommodate our request for a different table in a more desirable location. We decided to leave, so I can't comment on the food quality. The lack of a proper welcome was disappointing.

In town for a cruise ship visit, lovely spot to sit people watch. No menus in English neither staff members spoke good English so hard to know what to order food wise. Enjoyed the free wifi.

At Brakstad, it is not customary to inform guests upon arrival if certain menu items are unavailable. This was our experience when we decided on the shank of lamb, only to be told it was not in stock that day. Additionally, the server's knowledge of available wines was lacking.
