Bidrage med feedbackOrdered way too much food empanadas and arepas are about the size of an average sandwich.I preferred the empanadas over the arepas the only difference being the “shell”. Empanadas are closed, thin dough, fried. The arepas are open like a sandwich and the dough is fluffier. The fillings were all out of this world. My two favorites were the bean and cheese and pulled chicken. So flavorful. All the leftovers crisped right up beautifully in the air fryer.
The food was an overpriced disappointment. I was excited to try because I've never had Venezuelan food and if this place is an accurate representation, I'll pass in the future. We ordered two empanadas (chicken and cheese) and one vegetarian arepa. I didn't know the empanadas were made with cornmeal rather than wheat flour (ignorance on my part) so I didn't like the flavor or texture. Also, the price of the empanadas was more than 50% higher than what's on their website. When I brought it to their attention, they were aware but didn't care.As for the arepa (see pic), it cost almost $10 and it was the size and thickness of a Smuckers uncrustable. It was sealed on the sides and not open like other pics I've seen of arepas. The filling was similar to a vegetable stew with an indescribable (not in a good way) flavor. It was also VERY salty, which I imagine was to try and cover the flavor. Unfortunately, I finished my Fanta and was never brought the water I requested so I didn't have anything to drink to wash down the saltiness.I am willing to give Venezuelan food one more try, but definitely won't be going to arepa house to do it.
Showed up right before closing. Genuinely great food. I'd never eaten Venezuelan food before and now I'm looking up flights.A must if you are a fan of good food and supporting a local restaurant.

La paisa: was generously stuffed! The cornmeal cake had a pleasantly crisp outside and fluffy inside.
