Bidrage med feedbackWell the grounds are beautiful. Paying in average 100-150 per person you shall expect top quality. Well, it's not really the case. Getting a hard reheated bread dumpling is unexpected. So over seasoned salted food. I'm more than happy to pay for quality food but after complaining the chef Petr (eventually the owner) coming to the table while the main entrance was delivered asking to leave the restaurant..... shame on them!!! these people don't deserve my ..... they ruined a birthday celebration dinner!!!! Ohhh btw no wondering there is a war in Ukraine!!!!! With this behavior I'm not surprised......
I must say, simply writing a review does not do justice to my experience at the Royal Eagle. For my birthday, my friend surprised me with a romantic evening at this restaurant. I was truly impressed by his efforts, as everything about the evening was perfect! He had hinted weeks ago about a special surprise for my birthday celebration. I was trying to guess where we were going, but his only instructions were to cover my tattoos and dress modestly. I was in shock! Where could he be taking me? He also mentioned that they do not serve alcohol, but we were allowed to bring our own bottles of wine. He picked me up and treated me to cocktails before our evening began. I was excited to see what awaited me. He always says it's a challenge to surprise me, but this time he succeeded. We drove to a neighborhood I was unfamiliar with, and I was surprised to find a stunning structure resembling Old Time Russia, which turned out to be the Royal Eagle located in a monastery. The spiritual vibes of the place were palpable as we walked through the grounds. The quaint space and decor mesmerized me. I was also surprised to learn how difficult it was to secure a reservation, as they only serve dinner once a week. We started with an appetizer, uncorking our special wine without any corkage fee. Our entrees, the rack of lamb and a specialty chicken dish, were absolutely delicious. We shared our dishes to sample more flavors. The lavender infused creme brulee dessert was a highlight, leaving a lasting impression on our taste buds. We are still raving about it! We look forward to returning in the summer to explore the grounds and gardens. My friend truly outdid himself, making it a memorable evening that I feel blessed to have shared with him.
Things started out very well. Nice amuse bouche, table of several sharing several very good appetizers. And then things went south – kitchen must have been overwhelmed. Significant (more than 30 minutes) gap between appetizers and any acknowledgement that mains were even near completion. Mains, when served, appeared to have been under the lights for a while – fish courses had dried out a bit, cream sauces had started separating. For the money, the form (fine) of dining, and the fact that they’ve been doing this for a long time I would’ve expected the service to much smoother and coordinated. The restaurant allows bring your own wine (only wine), and working our way through our supply of champagne helped the time pass.
Borscht , sandwiches, paparika chicken were very good. Chocolate cake was the best ! The price was reasonable , but don't be in a rush. Bring a bottle of wine !
This restaurant is located on the grounds of St. Sabbas the Sanctified Orthodox Monastery and offers a unique dining experience. They are only open for dinner on Thursdays from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. Due to its small size, limited hours, and social distancing measures in place, reservations can be difficult to secure. The gardens surrounding the restaurant are beautiful, with peacocks, including albino ones, roaming freely. The cuisine is primarily Eastern European/Russian with generous portion sizes. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine as alcohol is not sold on the premises. The waitstaff, made up of parishioners, are friendly and efficient. The average cost per person for a party of four, sharing appetizers and desserts, was around $60.00. A dress code is enforced, prohibiting clothing such as shorts, leggings, and tops revealing bare shoulders. It is recommended to review the dress code on the restaurant's website before visiting. Negative comments regarding the dress code are discouraged as it is a requirement of the monastery. If the dress code is not to your liking, it is best to choose an alternative dining option.
