Bidrage med feedbackThe service was friendly and polite. Unfortunately the food was very below par the mixed seafood starter was drenched in oil. The squid was rubbery. Our main course was so poor, and full of cheap ingredients mixed seafood in chilli sauce had baby prawns, rubbery poorly prepared squid and cut crab sticks. The sauce tasted like cheap chilli sauce from a bottle. The chilli beef was too sweet and inedible. The rice was the meanest portion we’d ever seen. The mixed veg had hardly any variety just cheap carrots, onion and tiny bits of broccoli. The bamboo shoots seemed to be from a tin. We came in hungry and left barely satisfied. My drink was flat. Later we learnt that the business is due to close and that could explain the indifference of the chefs. Such a shame because the owner is charming and clearly well regarded. I can imagine in its heyday the food was lovely and with such lovely service although the setting leaves much to be desired it could have been a nice restaurant. If a new manager takes over, a new kitchen team would be a good first step.
Our order took so long to come. When I rang to find out where the food was the first time the lady said 15 mins (it had already been over an hour) the food still didn’t come, I rang and the lady said it was out to delivery. The food didn’t arrive for another 40 mins and was cold when it finally got to us. I was also told they don’t normally except orders from where I live…..which clearly wasn’t my call….and it was Christmas. Really bad service and very average food. Would recommend you to avoid!
Every time I visit this restaurant, I always feel welcomed. My favorite dishes are the crispy duck and spring rolls.
I ordered spring rolls, chicken with cashew nuts, prawns kung po, and special fried rice. The quality was very poor, with an unappealing vinegary sauce on the spring rolls and a breaded prawn that was difficult to identify. The chicken had a sharp taste and lacked cashew nuts, and the special fried rice was very stingy. I used to frequent this restaurant when they offered 'all-you-can-eat' Sundays and remembered it to be better than average. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I paid over £20 for a subpar meal and regret not choosing a different restaurant on Saturday night.
I have been a customer of this Chinese restaurant for several years and I appreciate the family-style cooking. The food is delicious and simple Chinese fare. The decor is reminiscent of the 1970s, but I find it charming and unique. Nowadays, most orders are for takeout, with the option to use the Hungry House app for delivery. I usually order the same dishes every time, including plain noodles, special fried rice, and garlic king prawns.
