We stumbled through a back alley, made our way up to a rustic family business and a private restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine, not western gimmicks or crutches. The owner was our server and he made a few recommendations followed by step demonstrations, how to serve, dish, shrimp and diving the food we ordered, it was really interesting and absolutely delicious
It is a small place thus best to avoid peak dining time. My family enjoyed our first meal here. We almost missed it as it is not in a conspicuous location. It is on the 2nd floor, a spot tucked away in an alley. Do refer to the photo shared here to see the look of the spot. Run by a humble man who shared his story of how he had persevered and diligently worked his way to own this small eatery (through a printed copy). Please come to support him and the employees.
After much consideration, this was the best place I ate at in Vietnam over a 12 day trip. The restaurant itself is a bit difficult to find, but follow the signs for the restaurant, up the flight of stairs. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but it all pales in comparison to the quality of the food. Everything we ate was well balanced, filled with fresh herbs and the right amount of spices. Larger groups might have difficulty getting a table here, but it's well worth it to break up a group just to eat here
Awesome hidden gem in Hanoi. Trusted Google review and turns out to be an awesome experience. All prices are on menu so no tourist scare. Humble abode base restaurant. Don't be fooled by the direction to restaurant. My favourite dishes- fried spring roll abundance Bun Cha.
What a brilliant restaurant! Not only is the food delicious but the owner is so passionate about his restaurant. They have a full vegan menu, and every dish we tried was delicious, even for my Vietnamese friend who doesn't usually eat vegan food. And even better, for free you get a tofu dish, a salad and a digestive soup! Can't recommend highly enough, for 6 plates we paid 250k, a fantastic price for a delicious dinner! Ps the alley may look a little dodgy or hard to find but it is totally fine, just follow the signage!
