Kleine Brunnenstrasse 1 - Hamburg

Stopped here based on recommendation of nearby wine shop owner and I was not disappointed. Small restaurant a block off a busy street with both inside and outside seating. The staff spoke English well and were very friendly and helpful. I went with the 4 course chef's selection with the wines. However, I asked if it could be done without seafood since I am not big on fish and the waiter said yes, he would work with the chef. Each course is something I would have ordered if given the choice. Near the end of the meal, the chef came out and said I had challenged him by avoiding seafood and wanted to make sure he had done well for me, which he had. Two evenings later I brought two friends back and again the service and food was excellent. Not only was the food tasty, but very well presented. I ate two of my seven dinners in Hamburg here and hope to someday come back.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant, with a bit of help from Tripadvisor, after a long hot day of sightseeing. It’s tucked away on a pleasant corner, and although at first we had to sit inside, we were soon invited to take an outside table that became free. I’d more or less figured out the German menu, but when the mâitre d’ realised we were English speakers, an English menu was produced. The food was delicious: a very tasty Ligurian fish soup for my partner and a goat’s cheese and apple “lasagnetta” for me, accompanied by the excellent Franconian wine of the month, a luscious Müller-Thurgau. My partner followed with swordfish, which was perfectly cooked, and I had venison with a wonderful cocoa and pepper crust – absolutely divine. I had a glass of excellent red, a mourvedre-syrah blend. In short, a beautifully cooked and presented meal with friendly service and a moderate bill for the quality. A great discovery and highly recommended.

It a really nice and cozy corner in Ottensen. The food was amazing as well as the service. If you are in the neighborhood do no hesitate its delicious.

It was always a pleasure. Deer grats miraculous, service class and again a wine a wine which was fermented on the mash of Rioja, thank God is as far away from the main stream as the earth from the moon. Despite a certain herb of tannins, a very complex and drinking wine that was even better for the Zander than the wilderness.
