Visited for the first time in years and we were happy we did. Food was tasty and Dee, our server was genuinely friendly and so cheerful. Entire experience was a positive one. Will return.
A quaint little diner spot, ZJ's was CROWDED when we ate there. Lots of people, lots of chatter. The menu is what you'd expect from a traditional diner, with a few more rare items. Prices are a little above normal. Although that said the ham steak was both unexpected and sizable enough to justify the price. Service was fast to begin with but food didn't arrive for about 40-50 minutes after we ordered. Ours wasn't the only slow order, as an older gentleman near us gave up after 45 minutes and walked out. But again... they were packed with customers, so this may not be normal. For some comfort food and diner experience, give it a try. Make sure you're in good company just in case you find yourself waiting.
What a nice find and I do mean find. We were visiting Hamburg Village Square and noticed the Zj's sign in the back left corner of the Square. Almost missed it. Hungry we took a chance and were pleasantly surprised. Greeted and sat immediately we proceeded to have a delightful experience. Our server came over quickly let us know that everything on the menu was available. The restaurant was obviously dotted with regulars as we observed the welcomes, interactions and automatic order taking over and over. That is always such a good sign. The menu offered such a wide variety of options it was hard to choose. My wife chose chicken fried steak (gravy on the side) as always. As an old school ham fan I was tickled, intrigued and challenged by a 1 lb ham menu option which I could not resist. As the pictures can confirm we were not disappointed. The service was attentive and very friendly we feel very welcome and taken care of. The food was hot, fresh and very good. We both couldn't finish everything, especially me. The dinosaur slice of ham defeated me for now but I guarantee it will be dealt with later. The restaurant bathrooms were pleasantly clean. We were so happy we have had so many disappointing experiences for so long we've stopped going out for breakfast. Now we've found 2 new places in as many weeks. Anyone who knows, knows.
The biggest rip off In Hamburg we paid $66 for breakfast. I got two eggs and two potato pancakes cost me 20 bucks and four dollars for two pieces of toast. I can't even begin to tell you how satisfied I am with this place definitely don't go here. There's 1 million places In Hamburg can go for half the price.
