Fung Wah Restaurant - Halifax

This restaurant offers the best Chinese takeout in the city! The homemade egg rolls are fantastic. Unlike buffets, the food quality here is far superior.

I placed a large order for pick up right when the restaurant opened today. The staff was understanding and helpful. Fantastic customer service and delicious food! Thank you once again.

I ordered Pork Belly with Preservative (R9) and Jelly Fish with Sliced Beef (R23). The R9 or “Kao Lok” (in chinese dish name) was so good. You can taste the star anise and black sweet soy sauce. It a must to eat with rice. However the portion was too small for my family of 3 peoples. We will order more next time. For the R23, it was slightly sour from their sauce. Not hot&spicy for me. The sliced beef was a bit dry but the jelly fish was flavorful from sesame sauce and crispy. However, i don’t like this dish as much as the Kao Lok.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant and got the BBQ Pork and Blackbean Beef with a side of hot and sour soup. The BBQ pork was tasty with a good mix of pork and broccoli, and the portion size was generous. The Blackbean Beef was also delicious, with tender beef and good flavor, though I wished there had been more black beans. The dish was nicely balanced with broccoli, bok choy, cabbage, and mushrooms. The hot and sour soup was excellent, with plenty of BBQ pork and tofu. The takeout service was efficient, with a heads up about the wait time, which was accurate. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this place if you're craving Asian food with generous portions at a fair price.
