Darrell's Restaurant - Halifax

There is no argument here as to why Darrells has been voted best burger. It was juicy but not greasy and just full of flavor. Definitely be adding it to my Halifax go to restaurants.

Went to Darrell's for the first time in more than a dozen years since moving away from Nova Scotia. Ordered my former standard, a strawberry milkshake and pb burger. We watched as the tables next to us who were seated 15+ minutes after we had arrived were delivered strawberry milkshakes but mine didn't appear. Our burgers were delivered, we inquired about the milkshake and were told the kitchen was backlogged. By the time we finished our burgers no milkshake had appeared but another table which had been seated 25+ minutes after us had received a strawberry milkshake. There were no check-ins by any waiter after our food was delivered so my friend couldn't request the additional items she had wanted to order, including a milkshake. I was kindly given a small discount, but would have preferred a milkshake with my burger as I ordered. The burger was as good as I remembered it to be, the service was not.

Quiet little diner in Halifax. Portions are amazing and staff is friendly. I didn't get the waitresses name but she was fantastic drinks were always topped up and was knowledgeable about the menu. There was even a pair of older ladies that came in and chatted with the waitresses, I would have guessed it was their grandmothers that's how close they were and that speaks numbers! Overall great experience, this will be my dining spot from now on for my trips to Halifax.

Great portions! The restaurant had friendly staff and a variety of burger options. I got the peanut butter and swiss cheese burgers, and they both didn't live up to the hype. The beef patties could have used more seasonings. I also ordered orea shake and peanut butter chocolate shake, which were again slightly above average. However the fries were crispy and had zero oil, and had good portions of fries and shakes.

Went in for the burger week burger! It was delicious! The peanut butter was crunchy and melted perfectly, the bacon was the perfect combo of crunch and chewy and the burger was absolutely juicy and delicious. Also highly recommended the milkshakes, there wasn't one table I could see that didn't have one!
