The hand rolls are huge, the sashimi servings are generous, and even the lunch combinations are satisfying. The fish is fresh and smells great, guaranteeing tasty and delicious meals. It is one of the best sushi places in the area, with good service that is always on point. The restaurant is constantly busy, so service could be more efficient, but the simple and classic Japanese-style decor adds to the charm of this small, quaint sushi shop.
I ordered a Yellowtail Salmon Roll to go from Akasaka Sushi. I arrived around 7:30 on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was very crowded with happy families and attentive servers. The rolls were generously sized with a good amount of fish, rice, avocado, and greens, all sliced thickly. The yellowtail and salmon tasted fresh and delicious, especially when paired with wasabi paste and soy sauce. The rice was cooked perfectly. The end pieces were the most flavorful, so make sure to try those first. The soup that came with the meal was not very memorable. Overall, I didn't dine in but I really enjoyed the food and would definitely come back. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious sushi. Yellowtail roll 5/5, Salmon roll 5/5.
The food is amazing and the service is excellent! We are regular customers and highly recommend trying the yellowtail collar. Don't forget to try the chef's specials as well. You won't be disappointed!
I was craving sushi and my boyfriend had seen Akasaka Sushi Restaurant on social media, so we agreed to come here for dinner. They are located in their own private lot tucked away in an industrial area. They have their own private parking lot. The interior was very quaint and they can use some renovations. Definitely a hole in the wall type of hidden restaurant. Our eyes were lured by their chirashi bowl, and my boyfriend was looking at add-ons to the meal. Thankfully I read some reviews from my fellow yelpers that the chirashi was huge and enough for 2 people, so I told him we should share and we can order more nigiri or handrolls if we are still hungry. He'll thank me for this restraint cause the Chirashi Bowl $49.95) was more than enough food and it left us both feeling stuffed. Before we ordered, we were given complimentary edamame and miso soup to enjoy while we went over the menu. It was a nice touch, and I liked that the edamame was unsated, since I've been cutting back on my sodium intake. One thing I really didn't like was when the waiter brought out the chirashi bowl, his hand touched the eating end of my chopstick. I felt compelled to grab new chopsticks from the table next to us because that wasn't sanitary. On the bright side, the chirashi bowl was HUGE! There was a generous amount of protein and the cuts were thick. There was a lot of yellowtail and salmon, which were both fatty and melt in your mouth buttery. There was also albacore, ikura, ebi, unagi, scallop, a poke mixture and I think sliced octopus or squid. The sushi rice could use improvement. It was more normal rice than sushi rice, maybe it can use more rice vinegar. The wasabi was definitely not fresh. After we paid and was ready to leave, it was really nice that the restaurant brought out a segment of a sliced pineapple as a complimentary dessert. I'm not sure why they brought this out cause the other tables didn't get it but the kind gesture was much appreciated. I liked this restaurant but the difficult thing for me on coming back would be their large portions. I am a small portions with variety type of person. I saw the rolls and appetizers from other tables and everything was giant sized. I would tell you to come with friends but the restaurant is so tight, it would be potentially difficult to get seating to come with a large group.
A hidden gem, masqueraded within an old looking house, located in an industrial area, weeds growing behind an old chain-link fence. Around the corner is where the parking lot and entrance to the restaurant is. The looks of the restaurant is way better from this side of the building. Small parking lot, entrance to the restaurant located to the rear of the house. Definitely an older house, converted to a local restaurant. Fairly busy, with a small dining area, with 1 waitress, and 1 assistant busboy. 2 sushi makers behind a counter, located in the corner, and I'm assuming a handful of workers in the kitchen. Food was excellent, teriyaki beef was flavorful and tender, the sushi roll were huge, almost the size of a burrito. Our waitress was very nice, helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back.
