Browns - Gwynedd

Just stopped by for a simple lunch the baguettes are excellent value with a wide range of fillings probably the best we've had. I don't understand the negative reviews as the staff were very helpful in our case.

We always try to support small businesses whenever possible, especially those lovely and welcoming cafes in Barmouth. Unfortunately, Browns is not one of those cafes. We were appalled by the unwelcoming and rude reception we received from two out of the three staff members working there. When we stopped by for a late lunch and some coffee, we were abruptly informed that we only had until 3:30pm to eat and drink, even though it was only 3pm at the time. It was clear that they were eager to close up as soon as possible. Despite there being only one other couple seated outside, we were met with hostility when I asked for a glass of tap water and was rudely denied by the man working there, who said they couldn't accommodate everyone asking for free tap water. This response felt rude and inappropriate, especially since we had already ordered other drinks. When I requested a receipt, I was only given the card receipt and had to ask for an itemized one. The man instructed the woman to write one out for me, in a similarly rude manner. The food was mediocre at best, and the latte I ordered was subpar and didn't resemble a latte at all. I would advise avoiding this cafe until they can improve their customer service and manners. Our experience was terrible and shocking, definitely one to steer clear of.

Sometimes you just want a salad box with all your favourite fillings... and then it appears! Browns is an unassuming place but it's staff, a friendly husband and wife team, could not be faulted for their dedication to excellent food at a great price. Breakfast Babs to coronation chicken on a brown roll, everything fresh and good. Good for takeaways to the beach or harbour watching. Reliable food, friendly service, a great find in Barmouth.

Bought a filled baguette to take out, nothing special, minimal filling service without a smile. Much better places in Barmouth to spend my money

The staff was very welcoming, the food was delicious and there was a wide variety of options to choose from. We definitely plan on returning the next time we are in the area.
