Arirang - GUNGAHLIN

I love Arirang!!!   Can't get enough of their  little condiment dishes with kimchi, pickled radish,  angel noodle salad etc....  My sister always orders the glass noodles,   and I always seem to be ordering pork &rice.   Great value, and great as a lunch spot!  Gets crowded in the evenings.

My friend V and I decided it was time to head far North-side to try out some food. It was a cold winter weekend, so hot Korean food seemed like a good idea. We walked into Arirang Korean restaurant in Gungahlin (no booking made) and there were a few spare tables available. After sitting down, a plastic water jug and plastic cups were immediately provided. The restaurant is small and probably only seats about 30 people – this made it nice and cosy that cold day. The menu looked enticing with plenty of soups, stews, noodles and rice dishes mostly around the $12-$17 mark. Dishes that are spicy are characterised with either one chilli or two chillis next to the name. The Chef’s Specials range from $25 to $55, considerably more expensive than the other dishes. I did notice that a couple at another table were sharing a very large hotpot steam boat between them so I’m guessing that’s the reason behind the higher prices (it’s a serve for two). But I’m just guessing, best to ask staff. Korean Fried Chicken, around the $35 mark (again quite expensive), comes five ways – original, hot and crispy, spring onion, sweet chilli and boneless sweet chilli.

Back again for dinner and I highly recommend the kimchi stew. Well priced and great flavors. I will be back again and again! you can't go wrong with Korean BBQ.

Quality has stayed consistent over the years, it's very dependable. We had to order in a hurry as the kitchen was closing. The prawns entree was mostly thick batter and very little prawn. The chicken donburi was middle of the road. The beef on a hotplate was good. Big serves, very filling. They tried to shoo us away by printing the bill and placing it on the table. I didn't get time to eat, so below are pics of the takeaway. Would still recommend .

Loved the hot soups here at Arirang Korean Restaurant! These hot soups were especially good on a cold day and really warms you up. We had ordered #44 and #46. The Beef Bulgogi soup and the Fish roe with seafood in anchovy soup. The Beef Bulgogi soup was rich and tasty. There was enoki mushrooms and glass noodles in it. Overall, a very lovely soup, however it can a bit oily. The Fish roe with seafood soup had a lovely vermilion colour to it. It was filled with clams, mussels, shrimps
