PATIO DE PIEDRA - Guanajuato

Today I visited Patio Piedra with my wife, who is an international chef, the pasta was great, my Argentina sandwich was great, the service was excellent and the dining room amazing. Definitely a place to eat and enjoy,We will return soon

I left a very bad review for this restaurant after my last visit. I went back, and I thought it was just fair that I had an update. THE GOOD: 1. My biggest complaint last time was the bad quality of the meat. I think that the cut I got during this visit was the same quality as last time, but it was certainly better cooked (but see below, and I enjoyed the accompanying sauces. The best steak ever? Of course not. But at the price? Very reasonable. 2. Last time I complained about the bad choice of wine and alcohol. I can't really talk to this complaint because I either didn't order this visit, but when I left the restaurant, I noticed that the restaurant seems to be in stock on both. Actually, this time I ordered a local craft brew, and it was excellent. So no complaints about the drinks. 3. My wife had a salad and she was very happy with it. 4. We went both times, the service was excellent. 5. It's a beautiful little place. The BAD. 1. I can't think of the last time I waited for my food for so long. When we arrived, there was only one table in front of us. And yet it took forever to complete our order. When it was time to pay, it turned out that the restaurant had not changed, and one of the employees (or perhaps the owner) had to run out, hop into his truck and switch somewhere. That also slowed things down. (For her credit, the staff has put together two free drinks while we waited. We were not in a hurry, so the long (though waiting together were not a big deal. But clearly they have to fix this problem. 2. It seems literally impossible to get this restaurant to cook a steak medium rarely. I was incredibly clear I like some Rojo, but it came back to medium. I think that can only be a cultural thing. It is certainly not the first restaurant in Mexico I was where the waiter refused to believe that someone might want their steak to cook less than medium. It may also have to do with the fact that the steaks are quite thin, and that it is difficult to cook them somewhere between raw and medium. If this is the case, I would certainly pay extra for a thicker cut if it was properly cooked. 3. The desert was like that. All in all, things were much better this time. It's a good enough restaurant I'm going back. It has great potential. During my next visit, if there is not an absurd waiting, and if they change, and if I can get a cold martini, I will certainly add another star.

Two-stage open-air restaurant with bar. Good disc jockey and attractive young Mexican clientele. Our first visit was 9:30 and only for drinks. Since it was a cool night on the terrace, we ordered hot tea, sashimi and brownies. The sashimi came in a beautiful presentation after a short wait. The tuna was definitely not delicious. After a few times after the tea asked, it arrived 40 minutes later. Brownie was normal. Because a friend wanted to try the restaurant, we went back to lunch two days later. Paprikasalat, although called Mozarella cheese, was not only buffalo Mozarella, it was Panora, a Mexican cheese. I ordered shrimps that were edible because they had so much chili pepper. Nobody else at the table could eat them. The third duck never arrived, and the waiters looked surprised when we asked where he was. Since it took forever to get the two commands and not get the third, we cancelled the dessert. Although the staff is very friendly, it is incompetent. Management does not seem to exist. So if you want good food and good service, that's not a place for you. If you want a drink in a great place, listen to good music and maybe dance. And don't hurry to get your drink!

I had heard good things about this restaurant and was impressed by the reviews here on Tripadvisor. But after I visited this last weekend, I can't recommend it. THE GOOD: 1 It is a nice little restaurant. Beautiful decor, and from the top deck a beautiful view of the San Javier area. 2 Our server was very nice and very attentive. 3 Good, wood-fired, thin-grained pizza, although it would have used another 2 or 3 minutes in the oven to crush it a little. 4 Some fine salsas. THE BAD: 1 The place promotes itself as a steak restaurant. One or two weeks before our visit, the restaurant organized a rather expensive, full-day cooking course on the grill. So I thought the chef at Patio de Piedra must know something or two about meat. Unfortunately, this is obviously not the case. The rib eye I got was pretty low... every steak at Costco is better. And while I asked if it was medium-sized, it came to the table good-ja-done. This is a common problem in Mexico, desgraciadamente. Super good-done is the standard temp for Steak here. All in all, really not acceptable. 2 The wine selection consisted of a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. That's it. And the poor server couldn't even open it with the terrible cork screw she had. Obviously no winemaking. They have a limited number of beer and no alcohol selection at all. 3 We ordered Calamari. They were the hardest Calamari I ever tried to eat to be the operative word here. They could pick them up and clink literally against the plate: they made the same sound as if I had hit the plate with a small rock. Patio de Piedra, indeed. So, if you're looking for pizza and beer, that could be a good choice. I liked the pizza enough that I could go back to taste her pasta. But if you are looking for steak and/or seafood, stay away.

Un excelente lugar en Guanajuato, diferente con un trato excepcional, el lugar está padrísimo y el ambiente es muy ameno y reconfortante. Ideal para tomar una copa de vino tinto o su variedad de mezcales en compañía de tus amigos y los fines de semana se presta para ir a comer con la familia, se recomienda probar las pizzas a la leña así como las hamburguesas que ofrece el lugar. Muy recomendable.
