La Rinconada - Guadalajara

This restaurant is on Plaza Tapatia behind the Degollado Theater. We like staying at nearby hotels and browse the plaza and La Rinconada is a pleasant place to stop in, get away from the crowds and enjoy some fine food and listen to live piano music. We have been here various times over many years. Never disappointed.

I was recommended this restaurant for breakfast by hotel staff where I was staying. Restaurant was not crowded and I was quickly seated. They offered a buffet or ala carte menue. I ordered coffee but when I went to drink noticed the cup was dirty. I called the waiter over and showed him and asked to change. Then I noticed the table cloth was soiled and had hair on it. I requested that to be changed too. No problem with both requests. I had the spinach and cheese omelet. Food was just ok nothing special.

I liked it. The dining room is absolutely beautiful. And the food is simple but tasty. The grilled cheese with olive oil is fantastic. And the beefsteak tacos are simple but good. And best of all, there was a non-stop flow of chips and salsa. And the salsa was outstanding. I was shocked to find the place completely empty at 7pm on a weeknight, but I was glad that I discovered it.

The food very succulent, our waiter was not very outspoken but the rest of the staff were friendly and the pianist super talented and nice.
