La Palapa de Tlaquepaque - Guadalajara

Great service around here, but especially thanks to Felix and Abel and the rest of the restaurant staff for excellent table service. You won't forget!

Since we moved here in January, our popular nice restaurant in Tlaquepaque (on the eastern side of Guadalajara was Casa Canela on Independéncia; but we only found out that the cook and many of the waiting staff recently jumped ship and have a restaurant removed from their own a few blocks. Maybe Casa Canela will still have good things; but if the preliminary menu at the new place, La Palapa de Tlaquepaque, is a hint to coming things, it will be great. We ate there yesterday and I had the best pescado a la veracruzana I ever tasted. It was fantastic. The ambience of the new restaurant is not almost as hoity-toidy as Casa Canela; but for our part we prefer the more relaxed atmosphere. La Palapa de Tlaquepaque is at Morales #255. (Morales runs parallel to and a block north of Independéncia; and #255 is about two blocks west of the two main churches. Richard.

Maybe Casa Canela will still have good stuff; but if the tentative menu at the new place, La Palapa de Tlaquepaque, is an indication of things to come, it’s going to be great. We ate there yesterday and I had the best pescado a la veracruzana I’ve ever tasted. It was fantastic. Llegamos a este sitio buscando un lugar para comer, es amplio, colorido, con estacionamiento y cómodo.El gran detalle es que a la comida le falta mucha atención, tanto en la presentación como en el sabor.No sabe mal la comida, pero le falta sabor, los tacos tienen salsas de acompañamiento pero les faltan unas cebollitas, o fruta picada, para complementar el precio es accesible son de 15 pesos y la pizza a la leña alemana, cuesta 130 pesos. Las bebidas son buenas, por lo menos la limonada mineral que probé estuvo muy rica. El servicio fue espectacular, pero la comida.......Espero que mejoren en este punto ya que la gastronomía es lo que tiene que atraer y por el momento no me convenció.
