Bidrage med feedbackI visited the Apple Shed last week with a small group of friends. We received a warm welcome upon arrival. Coffee & cakes were served in a timely manner. The cheesecake was delicious and the berry sauce was the perfect tartness to accompany it. The only critique would be to have more of the sauce - it was that good! From all reports the rest of the food served was delicious as well. Coffee was good and served piping hot. I was unsure of what to expect but I definitely enjoyed my visit here. I will gladly stop in again!
ATMOSPHERE AND LOCATION:The Apple Shed is located on the Huon Hwy and is easily found with local signage showing the way.The atmosphere here at The Apple Shed is very comfortable with a renovated shed/barn with a nice warm fire place and overhead heating, a beautiful appointed Cafe and plenty of seating both inside and out. SERVICE AND STAFF:We have visited twice now and brought family the second time, and the service has always been friendly and courteous and our meals have always come out within a reasonable time.FOOD AND PRICING:Food these days seem to not be very cheap at cafes but this is becoming the norm for most places. You can easily spend $50 for 2 on a couple of meals and drinks or a couple of pieces of apple pie and drinks for 2 will cost you approx. $30.Last Words:It is free to get into the Apple Shed and look around but they do ask for a gold coin donation for the museum end of the Shed, which is well worth the look. The Apple Shed is a great place to stop and is a must on your Tasmanian holiday.
I was part of a large group so we took over the main section of the Shed for our meeting. The morning tea of scones was delicious and the lunch was delicious. I don't like lamb so went vegetarian - but the cider cooked mushrooms were lovely as was the sourdough bread. A great venue for a morning meeting.
I stopped at the Apple Shed last Saturday for lunch. It was a busy lunch time but luckily we were able to get a table for four. The ambience is great and the heating is well sufficient. The outdoor dining area also looked very inviting but perhaps, best left for a warmer day. We ordered two tasting flights of the cider and the Churchhill Pale Ale that they also have on tap. The tasting flight of cider was a generous size and cheap. I'm no cider buff but they varied in flavour and were all nice to drink. It was also nice to have the craft beer and wine option at the bar. For lunch, I ordered the wallaby pasta. The food arrived timely despite it being very busy. The pasta was well cooked and the spicy sauce with shredded wallaby was absolutely delightful. I was sad to see the bottom of the plate. A notable mention to the selection of apple pies and ice cream available for deserts. The Apple Shed is a great place for lunch, a drink or a history lesson on apple production in the Huon Valley. I highly recommend stopping here if you are ever in the area.
Visited for a meal and a Friday night and was impressed, food and cider are very good. Starters of a trio of dips and a chicken pate. Both were generous and tasty. A small criticism of the pate was that one slice of toasted sourdough halved was not enough for the size of the serving, especially when there were other accompaniments that went well on the toast. The trio of dips came with 5-6 halves of sourdough. Also had the hand cut fries with pepper berry aioli. Again tasty, but the hand cut fries were a bit finely cut and would have been nicer cut a bit chunkier. This may also have kept them a bit warmer as they were well past hot euphemism they arrived at the table.Final dish was the mussels in cider and coconut with herbs and some bread. Fantastic. Would be good to serve it with a spoon though! While the mussel shell works as a spoon to get to the sauce, a spoon would be easier.Small things really as the quality of what was presented was really good. I'll definitely be back.
