La Clairefontaine - Grenoble

The dining room is round with a domed ceiling, all white and simply decorated with elegant high backed wooden chairs seating two dozen at small tables covered by red cloths. Indeed it was the former chapel opposite Grenoble 's old Saint Joseph prison, now the Chavant cinema complex. The young serving girl is efficient and charming yet reserved. The menu is limited, since there is only one chef, and the dishes are largely pre prepared to be cooked quickly, so fish and simple grills are offered. The restaurant was almost full at 8pm on a rainy Tuesday evening, so apparently it does well. We took the 3 course €26 menu. The aniseed cream sauce for the raw salmon Tartare was delicious even if the profiteroles were a little dry. My wife 's tomatoes confites with goat cheese was probably a better choice as an entrée. My Papillote de Cabillaud was however excellent cod sealed in foil and baked on a base of delicious local ravioles in cream sauce. My wife 's Loup de mer (sea bass) en croute (actually crumble) was also quite good. My Tarte Citron Meringée was actually an elegant confisserie a little dissapointing when I had expected a slice of good old lemon meringue pie. The small glass of black currents with cream, served with the excellent coffee, was actually better than the desert. The wine menu is also limited but appropriate for the food I selected an excellent Pouilly Fume at €30, again expertly served. An elegant and professional restaurant offering excellent value at a moderate price.

My wife and I went here with relatives who found this restaurant on a previous visit and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent and such good value with a choice from A la Carte or a 25 or 34 euro menu. We chose from the 25 euro but you would never think so, such was the quality. The service was excellent and very friendly and I would not hesitate from recommending this restaurant.

First of all, they have English menu. Secondly, the waiter is able to converse in English very well. Thirdly, the waiter and the waitress have been attentive, the kind of service you normally expect at a top notch restaurant. Most importantly, the food is unbelievable good and you do not have to pay a fortune for it! Highly recommended if you want good food at low price!

The frame is nice. small charming restaurant but by the way, too many tables spoiling the intimítécuisine with nice products well valued for interesting wines but a little too broad compared to the service is quite cold and pressing. damage
