I hate to say that this place was a huge disappointment. I absolutely love hot pot and have been to several places but this one is the worst hot pot ever experience, mostly due to their cleanliness. As I was eating, a roach literally fell from the ceiling on to my table.. it missed the food but doesn't take away from how it ruins your appetite to see that. There was also a dead fly by the self serve food, almost as if someone killed it and left it there. I went back to the self-serve several times and it was still there. It's clear that the staff doesn't go around, inspecting their food and cleaning the self-serve area. The food, itself, was not the greatest either. They did not have much variety. Not retuning.
I 'd hate to do this but Shabu Town today was a 2/5 tonight. During my first order of meat, I happened to find some hair on my plate and I 've alerted the staff there to tell them. She looked and said oh I 'm sorry and that was it. There was really no way in trying to compensate for that.. I did finish eating there still but I will not be coming back.. *Now they automatically add a 15% tip and 18% for 6+ parties... I understand it for bigger parties, but for small tables....really? (Regardless of how bad service might be that day, 15% would be the minimum... Warning: look at your food/plate before you eat!
Drove all the way out here because we were craving hot pot and wanted to try a new place out. It was a huge restaurant and looked like it used to be a Chinese buffet (maybe it was? The staff was polite and quick to take our orders. I don't remember exactly what broths my boyfriend and I ordered, but either way... the broths were kind of bland. Hence the only reason I'm rating this place 4 stars out of 5. You can season the broths though with the toppings (green onions, onions, garlic, etc. and even add in the sauces too to give it more flavor. They also did have a wide assortment of different vegetables and seafood; definitely a bigger selection than our usual go-to place. Their meat selection was also relatively big too and I enjoyed that they serve more meat than what I'm used to. I think 2-3 plates was enough for the both of us; that should say something about how much meat is served on a platter. Overall, we did have a good experience. It wasn't too noisy or crowded for a Friday evening and we had a good fulfilling dinner!
Went on a Saturday had the $29.99 AYCE It was empty. We were only ones there. The ambience was low lit. Plenty sections of seafood, veggies, etc There must be a limit on time, because when we (2) ate there, the server stood by and kept looking at us. We were there for 2 hours. Okay experience but still does the job and fill you up!
