Bidrage med feedbackThe food we had was a complete disappointment. First, they have quite a limited menu, ok. The mixed salad consists of green lettuce leaves, thin slices of tomatoes, and onion rings, ok. But the grilled iberian pork is of the least quality that I can imagine. It was very thin slices of meat, riddled with tendons and fat, chewing felt even tougher than chewing gum. It must be the cheapest meat you can get in a discounter. The chips that come with it were close to cold and soggy.
The restaurant was recommended by the lady who cleans the villa we have rented for one week. Her statement was you will get fresh very nicely prepared meals. She was very accurate: we had a lovely salad, fresh tomatoes and lettuce with onions and just the right amount of olive oil. Main course was a beef tenderloin, 6 beautifully prepared pieces for the two of us, with great chips. Also included was a rice dish, with beans tomatoes and herbs, very large portions. Lastly, we shared a one half bottle of a red local wine, very velvety, and chosen by the waiter who served us very well. Lastly, we had for desert a like Carmel custard, a dish popular here. And espresso. Very cost effective meal, and perfect on a Monday, when you do not get fresh fish...I highly recommend this very small restaurant.
Thumbs up for the seafood rice stew. A tad difficult with the crabs but the prawns and clams were fresh!
Comporta is a beautiful spot one and a half hours south of Lisbon with white sandy beaches and turquoise water. This paradise is taken over in August or any hot week end by rich Lisbon residents who expect trendy places to eat and shop. The majority of restaurants recommended in the area are then pretentious and expensive. So it was a joy to have found Mira Ponte. They were full but did their best to accommodate us. On our two visits we tried many different dishes and they were all very tasty. In my opinion their chargrilled fresh fish is a must and they have a big choice of fish! With it we drunk in both occasions the delicious local Herdade da Comporta white wine (there's a choice of white, rose and red) and paid £6 less than other restaurants! Genuine tasty food at reasonable prices. Long may live Mira Ponte.
We had the seafood rice and it was so good we went back for the Secreto Pork a few days later. The owner speaks a bit of English and he helped with some reasonable wine recomendations which were delicious. He even told us when we'd ordered too much food. Great local restaurant. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
