Bidrage med feedbackSweet young girls were here today. I mentioned how my mother brought me there in 70s and how it had the same icebox, stool and glassware as on the shelf. (Except much less of them. It was such a great memory. I asked if I could have a float in such glasses. The young girl offered to accommodate me, but was quickly closed by the owner who told me in a persnickety voice, “You can’t because it doesn’t hold enough ice cream and we need to put it in the paper cups and fill it with 3/4 ice and 1/4 pop from fridge that you need to get yourself. My spoon was too short for the swimmer and I got no straw. I was quite horrified about this attitude of the owners.”. The young girl was embarrassing (which wasn't her fault, but I tipped her money and thanked her for the attempt anyway. Like companies like this stay in business is beyond me. Apparently, this owner has no skills.
In the gift shop literally nothing. Empty shelves, not even good postcards. Didn't get the food, but that seems to be a good deal.
I didn't find many ways to find restaurants in Grand Manan. This is a regular stop for us when we go. There are food greasy spoon type, with some homemade elements. We were particularly impressed by their club sandwich. At home made bread, real chicken and a fair price. Anyway, be back. Try to avoid lunch on a school day, it is busy. They are better to wait an hour, but the service is still fast independent.
We stopped after a hockey game while we waited for the ferry. It was perfect that the young ladies help, were polite and fast, the owner, I suppose) was a wonderful woman who felt our time more like a house cooked meal than a restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 5 atmosphere: 5.
