Tamarind Restaurant Bar - Governors Bay

Gave the restaurant a second chance and i am happy to say that i made the right choice. Dined in for dinner and had Beef 'Varattiyathu ' and Ghee Rice. The beef was cooked to perfection and really gave me the authentic Kerala beef taste. The quantity of the food served was fair and justified the price tag. Service was really good and staff were very friendly. Would definitely be back. (Old review : Extremely low quantity and quality of food for the price paid. Was expecting much more from the renovated restaurant. Huge Disappointment.

Tamarind might be the best Indian restaurant in Christchurch. The fish curry was amazing plenty of heat, but still the individual flavours rang out and made every bit an adventure. Excellent kids menu as well. Highly recommended!

Good tasting food, friendly service, wouldn't have minded the dining area a bit warmer. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and asked for it spiced hot, and it came out as about a medium, but was tasty nonetheless. Solid option for a curry house.

Great food! Went on the suggestion of one of my team who wanted to introduce us to Thali for a team lunch. Will be back.

Tamarind South Indian Restaurant had a wonderful meal laid out for Onam Sadya. It’s such a sumptuous spread. Delicious of course, healthy and nutritional. Normally it’s difficult to do an entire meal with rice. But the accompaniments are so wonderful, the highlight was the payasam (a South Indian dessert) . The restaurant is buzzing with activity, many guests turned up in traditional Kerala attire to enjoy the meal which is served on a plantain leaf. Great customer service Nice work team Tamarind!!!
