Volcano Cones - Government Camp

I love this little ice cream cart in Govie! The staff is very friendly and quick. I have only gotten the Root Beer Float for myself all the times I have went there, but I like how they give you the can of root beer and strongly encourage you to not-throw away the can- they will take it back to recycle when you are done. Next time I go, I will probably branch out and try a different flavor ice cream and a waffle cone! But, yeah it is a nice place, that you can walk up and order, and if you have your dog that is ok, and then you can go walk around the town and enjoy your icecream!

Pretty good ice cream nothing fancy. The chocolate was the best of the ones we tasted, with huckleberry a close second. I didn 't at all care for the beachcomber but that 's just personal preference. We all ordered ours in cups so can 't comment on the cones. The two young ladies working were very nice and friendly. It 's almost like a food truck in that it 's a small little location in its own little building with no indoor seating, but it was nice to enjoy our ice cream as we walked back to the lodge.

A simple ice cream stand just right for the perfect afternoon treat. About 8 flavors, I tried the beachcomber and it was so good- like a blue marshmallow with fruity pebbles and pop rockets! Yep, it was pretty good and we paired it with a scoop of strawberry and it was a great pair! They unfortunately closed for the season on Sept 5, 2021. Must try when they are open!

A pleasant surprise in Govy! My kids have been coming to summer ski camp for five years now, and both kids have had Volcano Cones. Today was the first day we 've all had their ice cream. First, it 's just ice cream! I don 't know what the name represents. Because all though Mt. Hood is a potentially active stratovolcano (pulled that straight from Google! , most people wouldn 't extrapolate that far, in my opinion. I thought a volcano cone was going to be like a hole in the middle filled with hot fudge or something ... it 's not. It 's just ice cream! The staff working at the shop today were so nice!!!! I 'm hoping this is always the experience! During COVID it 's hard to find good help, but the two young women were great with service. Kudos to these employees! The ice cream is delicious! I don 't know if it 's homemade but it has to be small batch. They even have a traditionally Govy flavor of Huckleberry; which I enjoyed and would recommend and would order again. I also got Mint Chip, my staple! The mint chip was green meaning they had to add food dye; I prefer when brands don 't, but the food dye doesn 't effect the taste. My husband and son both got salted caramel and Oreo. The Oreo was ordered on recommendation from other reviewers and they liked it. Salted caramel is a favorite of my son especially and he gives it two thumbs up. This will be an annual experience. Update: Went for a second night and got the Beachcomber which I enjoyed more than I expected. Also got the strawberry which has been my least favorite so far not bad, just least favorite.
