First Avenue Tavern - Gold Coast

If you're looking for a satisfying meal at an affordable price, look no further. This place caters to locals and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The steak was perfectly cooked (medium, just as I ordered) in the kitchen at Crowne Plaza and it was absolutely delicious. It was served with a side of salad, chips, and a glass of wine. I enjoyed it so much that I went back for a second visit.

We have dined here one night early in the week after arrival in Crowne Plaza. It was pretty quiet, so much table choice. Beautiful relaxing atmosphere. Large menu and beverage list. Meals are light meals and suitable what we wanted. The food was really...nice and the service was friendly and helpful. Wine prices a tad on the high side compared to other bars I was, but nice wine. We had a pleasant meal and winning experience here – a perfect end for a day of travel.

Treated with hostility by the old lady behind the bar, felt welcomed the moment we stepped in the door.

Quiet and Quaint little spot, great for a afternoon chill out session or if you want to kick back and watch a major sporting event without the noisy crowds

We usually visit this bar when we have to go to the Gold Coast for work and stay at the Crowne hotel next door. The only positive thing about this bar is the affordable drink prices. However, the atmosphere is lacking and we found ourselves inhaling smoke from the adjacent pub's smoking area when sitting outside. During one visit, the bar staff tried to make us leave by aggressively moving furniture around us. On another visit, we were forced to sit at a cramped table in a corner on a busy Friday night. We decided to stay for dinner and ordered nachos and a Beef and Ale pie. The nachos were average, but we were quite surprised when the pie turned out to be a simple meat pie priced at $19. We were not impressed with the food or service and have decided to avoid dining there in the future. Instead, we plan to buy drinks from a drive-thru bottle shop and enjoy them in our room for a better experience. We have given the bar multiple chances, but will not tolerate subpar service any longer.
