Bidrage med feedbackIt is our day to visit Burnside and we decide to lunch in The Village Baker. We arrive early – before 12 – as we find it can be filled later. But there's plenty of room. We have our normal bakery dinner:...pie with sauce, followed by coffee and cake. There is a good choice, and we both comment on how good the food is. The environment is also very pleasant – and quiet! We decide that this will be one of our regular dining places.
We absolutely adore the sourdough, ciabatta, and rye sourdough at this restaurant. Every time we are in Adelaide, we make sure to stock up on them. The other items on the menu are also of great quality.
The Village Baker is now in its new premises. We had not planned to eat here for lunch, as before it was very busy sitting at a premium, but today there was plenty of space. So we ordered our usual lunch: a Filo and a...Pie, followed by coffee and cake. The cakes and spices were particularly delicious – worth a special trip – although my cappuccino was a bit slow in coming. But we will keep our eye when we visit Burnside to come back here.
Burnside Village is always evolving, and this has impacted the dining options in the southern part of the mall. After many years of sticking to our usual lunch routine, we decided to try out the Village Baker. There was a nice variety of options available, but seating was limited due to the expansion work taking place. It seems that there are plans to move into a larger space next door in the near future. We ended up ordering the quiche and a salad. The salad was quite unique, but unfortunately, there was a shortage of quiche so our only option was a chicken pie. The chicken pie was decent, nothing special. The staff was friendly and overall, the experience was good, although not exceptional.
This café has been in Burnside since 2004, and we have passed by it many times. We have always been tempted by the delicious pies and cakes on offer for lunch, but the limited seating always deterred us. However, they have recently expanded, adding more chairs and tables with seating for over 50 people. We finally decided to stop in for coffee and cake and were pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly, they even provided extra cream, our order was brought directly to our table, the cake was beautifully presented, and the coffee was just perfect. It is now a delightful option when visiting Burnside Village.
