Bidrage med feedbackWe went here to the birthday of my son, and I wish we hadn't! we sat and I ordered our meals. there were about four people waiting for meals and another group of four put their orders after us. the four presented. we finally got their meals when we saw them coming out. the next meal to get out were the four people who came after us. we sat there and waited an hour for our lunch (there were not 17 people in the dining area as a whole and 14 were eating) and it was not good. I ordered a bark crest with maic. it wasn't insole. the meat was a steak that was cooked on a grill, crushed and placed on the hard maic, then roasted carrots and gravy. the flesh was pork from steak who were that hard it was to get it down, it didn't fall apart or was soft as they would expect in a cassole. one of the other meal times was with sweetness that were raw, they had a hard time getting the forks in them, we eat in hotels and restaurants both days every weekend and I can say I don't think I had such a bad experience as we here,
I search out Irish Pubs wherever I stay for the atmosphere and the Guinness. Apart from the Guinness, which was very good, and a few items on the walls it looks and feels like an Aussie Pub trying to be an Irish Pub. Having said...that the meals were great and they had an old timers band playing who were quite good. Overall a good experience but if you are looking for an authentic Irish Pub this isnt it.
I have visited the Paddy Wagon a few times in the past and was always satisfied with a great meal. However, I visited on 29th Dec for a family meal before our daughter flew back to NSW. We had to wait over half an hour...for our meals to arrive after ordering. This I understood, as there was quite a few people in there. I ordered the last chicken kiev with prawns and was really looking forward to it. How disappointed was I? The chicken was overcooked and inside was very little garlic seasoning and only one tiny prawn no bigger than a shrimp and that was like eating rubber! The vegetables served with it kind of made up for the poor quality of the chicken. When the menu states Chicken Kiev with prawns, you expect more than one! Not happy to pay the price for one prawn and overcooked chicken.
A very quick lunch in Glenorchy and we were craving “pub food” and thus we found Paddy Wagon’s Irish Hotel. First, they do not call it Paddy Wagon’s Irish Hotel for not. The Irish were in force and it was a lively place even at...lunch. We found it strange that they had the place divided into two separate dining areas with two separate menus and if you other from one you could not sit in the other’s area, but like they say “When in Rome”, we went along with the rules. We order a bucket of onion rings, one beer and two chicken skewers meal – with chips. We asked for one to have only salad which was no issue to order. A few minutes after we sat down with the beer and our table number, they tell us they only have one chicken skewers left so quickly we order a chicken tender meal. The onions rings came out first and they were delicious. Not greasy, well battered and a huge serving for the price – excellent value for the money. The lunch meals arrived, and the skewers had both chips so the server (with a smile) remember the order and brought us a separate bowl of salad. The meals were filling and well prepared. The serve was quick and gracious. Great value for the money. We would recommend this pub to all Irish and non-Irish alike.
Overnighting in the area, so looked up what was near by and chose this wonderful place, very friendly staff, we both had sticky beef rib with mash and veg, it was chefs first attempt at these, and wow they were yummy . The meat was...falling away perfectly the flavour was spot on and not overpowering ,the mash and veg cooked perfect, and very generous portions too, very good value for money.
