Bidrage med feedbackA nice place for brunch, so much so we returned three times. Would recommend the poached eggs on bacon and sourdough. The coffee is also as I like it, fairly strong but not overly bitter. Very friendly service as well.
Need another visit. Staff no direction and standing around, ignoring. Main guy cheerful and greeted. Coffee nice. Daughter spilt her water and the young waitress had no idea and offered 1 paper serviette of small proportions! Silly really. Nice decor, looked like a good menu. Staff need training and direction which spoilt it. Maybe the youngsters all had pre New Year's Eve hangovers !
Visited for a couple of coffees, took ages to even take the order because the staff seemed to be wandering around trying to work out which table had ordered what food. Seemed like a lot of staff members not getting a lot done, very unorganised, staff didn't seem to have set roles and weren't very cheerful when greeting customers. Once ordered the coffees seemed to take forever, I even felt like leaving it was taking so long. Could see other tables getting annoyed with the wait and the waitresses still couldn't work out what orders went to what tables. Glad I didn't order any food
There are a number of cafes on Broadway but all have their own character so they're not all the same. Hartisan specialises in hand-made cakes, pastries and freshness. The croissants look so flaky and buttery but I am yet to try them. We have enjoyed both hot and iced coffee, both good but have not yet had a meal. The staff are obliging and friendly. Although I usually just want coffee for morning tea, I cannot resist the cakes on offer. Just today we shared a delicious raspberry pastry with fresh, tart, flavoursome raspberries. The ambience is light and bright with big windows looking out onto the street. It is a welcome addition to what is already on offer on Broadway.
We visited this wonderful cafe on a busy Sunday afternoon during a 'Sidewalk Sunday' event. We are visiting from UK and staying with Australian friends who had never seen the cafe before, so we had four sets of new eyes on the place! The staff were efficient and friendly, and although the orders took a while to be filled, we were quite content to wait as we knew that everything we ordered had been made from scratch in the bakery. Everyone was more than happy with their choices and agreed it was a long time since we had had such fresh and tasty bread and bakery products. If I had to single anything out for praise, I think it would have to be my wife's cinnamon French toast which was beautifully cooked and very light. My bacon and egg roll, although a British staple, was quite perfect too. We all had delicious coffee to accompany our orders, and we could not have been happier as we left the cafe to continue our exploration of the vibrant suburb of Glenelg. Well worth going out of your way for a breakfast/lunch if you are in the area.
