Bidrage med feedbackFantastic place. Goat’s cheese bruschetta and halloumi/veg ciabatta were both absolutely delicious. Great coffee. Amazing cakes. Lovely decor. Dog friendly, family friendly. Staff really nice. We will definitely visit again
I enjoy going to Kothel usually but this time when I went to pay the bill, the cashier commented on how long we had spent at the table, and said he would charge us more next time for a lengthy stay. How rude he was! In contrast, the waitress who served us was very pleasant.
I was feeling in need of cake so popped into Kothel Crow road thinking I might find something more homemade and better quality than a supermarket option. How wrong I was! I opted for a Victoria sponge as I thought it would be a simple, safe option. It most certainly was not! It was quite possibly the worst cake I have ever eaten! Dense where it should have been light and airy, underbaked and yet dry at the same time, buttercream that was far too sweet and sickly and tasted of margarine with so much icing sugar it was almost like a paste. And hardly any jam. Victoria sponge is such a simple, easy cake to get right, I've made hundreds over the years and not once was it ever as bad as this! If it was I would have thrown it away and not had the gaule to charge £4.50 a slice for it! I can only describe it as being akin to the worst cash and carry cheap cake full of additives and preservatives that had been left out overnight! I will NOT be going back anytime soon!!
I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The staff ignored me and when I finally got their attention, they made me feel like I was bothering them. The coffee was not very good, lacking flavor and not hot enough. The cakes looked nice with their fancy cream coverings, but the one I tried (supposed to be coffee and walnut) was only sweet and dry, as if it had been sitting out for days. I will not be returning to this place, as it was a waste of money.
I went to this restaurant for lunch and ended up only having scones, which were overly sweet. They only had one plain scone left, even though it was only 2pm. I also ordered a hot chocolate, but it was served to me with spilled all over the plate and a soggy wet napkin on top. Additionally, the hot chocolate was too thick to drink.
