Kel's Diner - Gibbstown

Second restaurant today apparently there's nothing around here to eat or open this diner is also closed

Nice home town diner where jen the owner knows almost everyone by name! Whether you are contacting at the plant PVF or just hanging with the grandkids this is the place to go!

I'm not from around here, so I may be grading on a bit of a curve. This is not the sort of place that seems interested in pulling in the Yelp crowd or travelers from the interstate. I'm guessing they'll be perfectly happy getting the locals who don't need faux-retro decor or kale chips. Which is good because this diner will never have either. As a matter of fact, I'd be hard-pressed to say they have any decor at all. What they do have is decent, simple food for not much money. I had a buffalo chicken wrap, which was tasty, and it seemed like they're using quality ingredients. Everything else at the table looked good, too. The fries were actually the standout, and I don't say that lightly. Too many places settle for crappy fries, but these were golden and crisp, just as I like them. Service was prompt, but a bit lacking, to be honest. While the owners were very friendly, our server was barely verbal and as a result we experienced some mix-ups with our food. This was easily fixed, but I'd say that's their weak spot (although it pains me to say it, because I feel like things might be touch-and-go for the folks there at the moment.
