Bidrage med feedback-Please don't go here if you are a vegetarian, vegan, or have any other dietary specifications. They falsely label food.-Also don't go here if you like restaurants that respect their clients. They are incredibly rude. While we were ordering our food, I asked the waitress if there were any products containing egg in anything I had ordered and she said no confidently. Our sushi then came covered in a yellow sauce. As a vegan, my alarm bells were ringing. I called the waitress over and asked her what the sauce was. Turns out all of our sushi was covered in mayonnaise. "No egg product" huh? Now, she could have simply apologised for her mistake, returned the dish and brought us what we had ordered without the sauce. But no. She comes at me with a sass attack, saying I didn't make my intentions clear. Incredible. Okay I thought, some sass from the waitress, but surely she will bring me the food I ordered now. NO! It does not end here. She takes the food away and bluntly says we will have to wait a long time for our correct dish, and storms off. Then the MANAGER of the restaurant comes to me, and LECTURES ME because he says I insulted the chef. Now my alarm bells were seriously ringing. You're telling me that because your waitress made a mistake I am insulting the chef? He also told me that the PLATES MARKED VEGETARIAN WERE NOT ACTUALLY VEGETARIAN because they use "fish sauce and mayonnaise in everything". How can restaurants get away with consciously falsely labelling their food as vegetarian?! He said, and I quote, "If you're REALLY a vegetarian you should say so when you come to this restaurant, because the plates marked vegetarian aren't actually."Unfortunately I didn't have the French skills to tell the manager that he and his staff were ridiculous and that he was wasting 10 minutes of my dinner lecturing me about how "I insulted the chef."CONCLUSION: Appalling service, and misleading food! Really poor experience. The only thing holding me back from putting one star is that the alcohol was good.
Sansui just opened a new dining-room only for yakiniku, meaning Japanese barbecue. The meat is divine. They bring you two different cuts of beef, and a special kind of pork, pata negra, all sliced thinly, and a plate of veggies (just so you have your daily portion). You are given instructions on how to grill on the special built-in barbecue thingie. What to grill first (veggies last). Very like Korean barbecue but with a Japanese sauce, of course. The owner has a shop that sells great sake and different Japanese articles like tableware and fun things on rue de Carouge, which, as all Genevois know, is practically the desert for things Japanese. There is a fantastic array of Japanese and other beers, and also sake. Ask the owner for suggestions, he is a connaisseur. We are not sufficiently devoted to meatnto fully appreciate, but we didn't know what yakiniku meant when Sansui took our reservation. Now we know that the barbecue is absolutely yummy here. Very fun for a family outing.
The whole experience was perfect!! Quick and pleasant service, amazing food and great atmosphere. For sure will come back soon! ❤
Hidden behind the Gare Cornavin in the neighborhood called Les Grottes, Sansui is very centrally located but easy to miss. It is a cosy small restaurant with excellent food and good service. Take public transport or leave the car at Cornavin parking. We had lunch and enjoyed it very much. I didn't rate 5 because the selection of gluten free food was limited. The waiter and the chef made an effort for me which I appreciated. I do hope the restaurant will expand its gluten free products, notably miso soup! It's easy to find gluten free miso.
This is a very good japonese restaurant, varied choice, very copious and tasty bento box for lunch, varied and excellent choices of main meal, with vegetarian options.High quality sushis and sashimis, very fresh fish, tasty.A perfect choice for lunch, and by summer I love to go there for a dinner outside on their terrace.
