A colleague and I stopped by on our way from Oslo to Bergen. The food was fine nothing to write home about, but fine. We both ordered burgers NOK 250 for a burger 's quite stiff, but it was a decent attempt from the kitchen. But then we wanted to pay, so we asked for the bill and I payed with my credit card after adding some tips. Then I asked the waitress for a receipt. She looked a bit surprised, and then pointed at the receipt on the table that had NOT VALID RECEIPT printed on top in capital l letters. So I pointed at that and explained that I needed a valid one. She went over to the manager and after talking with for a few minutes came back with a receipt. But only for one of the burgers. Then I said I needed a receipt for both, since that 's what I payed for. She walks back to the manager, talked for a few minutes then he comes over. He then explained he could only give me a receipt for one burgers. No explanation for why. I very politely told him that the restaurant, by Norwegian law, has to offer me a valid receipt. This is now starting to feel like a street restaurant in a 3rd world country. He tells me ha would have to talk with the accountant manager. We 're in no critical rush, so we wait. After a few minutes a new guy enters the scene. Well dressed and polite, but not introducing himself. He apologises for the inconvenience, but repeats that they are unable to produce a valid receipt, but he offers me the receipt from the card machine and that one is not approved for accounting purposes as it lacks VAT spec 's, etc. He then promises to send it to me by mail. I 'm still waiting. Not a big thing, but unnecessary and unprofessional. Stopping another place when we head back to Oslo, I guess...
Great food, good service and nice prices. All The kids liked it to! Cosy and calm location! We will come back for sure!
This is a lovely, classy cafe a bit off the main roads at Geilo, and we were fortunate enough to take a break here for lunch while on a lengthy road trip. Situated off the lobby at a hotel, it is definitely not an “add-on” lobby coffee shop. The design and lay-out is well thought-out and appealing, making for a very pleasant place to spend time. We got a table by the window, and both ordered the club sandwich option from the menu. This was no dull, tasteless club sandwich; it was well presented, tasty and fresh, and more of a meal than a sandwich, with the potatoes and pesto impressing too. The meal was slow in coming out, but the staff did recognise this and apologised. Out in the lobby area is the cabinet, which is literally full of beauty. The cakes and creations indicate that there is a real artist at work in the kitchens here! Even if you don’t want a dessert, you should pause and enjoy the visual appeal. With the car park right outside and great toilet facilities, we couldn’t have picked a better place for a break in the middle of the day.
