Mei Ling Chinese Restaurant - Geelong

Sunday night in Geelong and we just wanted some take away food. Was surprised how many restaurants were shut that night. Found this restaurant just near our Hotel and found this great restaurant. Poor waiter was run off his feet but our food arrived on time and was good value for money.

We arrived at 5.30, were greeted warmly and shown to a table, given a menu and offered drinks etc. Three other groups arrived later. The waiter was very helpful, courteous and attentive, apologizing that they were short staffed. (We had to wait a little at times but only for a few minutes. Food was very tasty, exactly as explained and served hot, promptly and attractively. Prices seemed reasonable.

Very nice indeed! We used to dine at the Mei Ling on many occasions but for some reason we have only dined there infrequently. Our 'usual ' Chinese ' has closed so we returned to our old haunt. The food we had was excellent although a little on the cold side, I think the reason for the cool food was the general temperature outside just over freezing). The temperature in the restaurant was also cool. The staff were excellent and chatted with us for ages after we had finished eating. I certainly recommend the MEI LING . This will be our future Chinese restarant of choice.

Worst Chinese meal ever. So bad, had to throw it in bin. Takeaway fried rice, steak veg meal pack. Entire meal was so salty it just could not be eaten. Rice was glugged/stuck together in clumps (def NOT fried rice), rice was salty tasting as well. Was sure meat was dehydrated, too thin, very dry so tough no one could cut it let alone chew it. Some meaty pieces actually tasted like ultra thin dried ham, the veg 2 pieces carrot, 2 pieces cauliflower onion. Banana fritter was so BLACK in the middle the BAG was dripping in oil. No little pot of sauce supplied like most others do. So no sauce, one sml fritter no ice cream yet paid full price. I really should have taken it back demanded my back. The young man on front counter was friendly well mannered though. Love Chinese food but this was beyond bad. Will never ever go there again. Why cant you give no stars if it is an opinion?
