Ono - Gatineau

This restaurant is very small with very little ambiente or character. almost coffee-like. a large part of the room is on the other side of some doors and seems to be designed to serve the driping wet cartridges from the adjacent thermal bath. this device also made the restaurant quite cool, since this side is quite exposed to the outside area, since the patrons come out of the outside area. I would appreciate that there are tables in the “restaurant side” that take up no more than 10 people. I planned the birthday of my mannes in the hotel spa a few months before the time. I have booked at ono a good 2-3 weeks before the time by open table on the website of the restaurant. but we came to empty stars and consternation. we seemed to disturb her. “On a pas d’espace!” (we don’t have space) has whispered a coworker loudly. a group of about 6 loud and partying men occupied the tables along the wall on a side of the restaurant. the waitress asked them if more people would join them. they said no, so she pulled a two-seater table away from her group, pulled it about 2 feet away and offered us triumphal place there. Not interested in enjoying my mannes' birthday dinner next to a group, so obviously unimaginable that all around her disturbed, we refused. we went and had an excellent dinner in kato (also in the hotel). very recommended kato. in any case they recommend a hard fit ono.

Eating was at best mediocre. filet mignon was boiled over after she rarely asked for medium. I tried to talk to someone about it by not interested. no, where was on the menu, there was that gravy was poured over my steak. every good quality steak never needs to be serious and should have been an option. au jus would have been a better option waiting staff was not where to find, no one came by to ask how our food was to ask if we wanted another drink. the people from the spa went through the restaurant in their swimsuits and bademäntel dripping wet. not worthy of the 5 star review they have online

This set up also made the restaurant quite chilly as that side is exposed to the outdoors quite a bit as patrons come in out from the outdoor spa. I’d estimate that in the “restaurant side” there are tables to accommodate no more than 10 people. I planned my husband’s birthday getaway at the hotel spa a couple of months ahead of time. I made a reservation at Ono a good 2-3 weeks ahead of time through Open Table on the restaurant’s website. However, we arrived to blank stares and consternation. We seemed to be inconveniencing them. “On a pas d’espace!” (We don’t have room) loudly whispered one employee to the other. A group of about 6 loud and partying men was occupying the tables along the wall on one side of the restaurant. The waitress asked them if more people would be joining them. They said no, so she pulled a two-seater table away from their group, moved it about 2 feet away and triumphantly offered us seating there. Not interested in trying to enjoy my husband’s birthday dinner next to a group so clearly unconcerned with disturbing everyone around them, we declined. We left and had an outstanding dinner at Kato (also in the hotel). Highly recommended Kato. Definitely suggest you take a hard pass on Ono.
