Yamato - Galveston

So good. we waited a bit for a cook, but it was good to wait. he made sure we were entertained and our food was cooked quickly. our waiter, chris, also made sure that we often look at each other. great and fun.

30/10 we did only sushi, for 5 people. We each had our own appetizer and we ordered between 2-4 sushi orders each 2 bottles of saki fuji flavored and 4 beers. We spent about $300 but we ate A LOT of food each (we haven't eaten all day). Honestly, the food.... was so so delicious. Probably the best cream crab puffs I've ever had. They melted right in the mouth. We had the crab stuffed mushrooms. I dont even like mushrooms and it was SO good. The texture was great. My personal plates were mostly from the seasonal menu. It felt like each dish was better than the last. We had the 3 kings, the fish tasted so fresh. After each piece I sat just to savor the taste. The only sushi plate they have on they're regular menu that I tried was the shaggy dog. Usually a simple so so roll. I took a bite not expecting much, it was phenomenal. I had to ask everyone at the table to try one piece. Everyone couldn't believe how delicious such a simple roll is. I am not sure if it's because they are so close to the beach but the sushi was so fantastic. Highly recommend if you like sushi and can appreciate the creativity they put into they're seasonal menus.

I’ve been wanting to find a yummy sushi place here in Galveston, I’ve had good experiences at a few, but today, my socks were knocked off. Yamato is officially my Galveston sushi recommendation. I had a roll of sushi that couldn’t have been better as well as steak and scallops. The steak was cooked to perfection, and very juicy, the scallops were so decadent, I can’t think of a time I’ve had such good scallops. My server was polite, and officiant she also made the recommendation for my sushi and wine which I appreciated. The price was just right for the value. No complaints, you need to go.

I only ordered their cold appetizers and they were the best I’ve eaten! The jalapeño pesto snapper a seasonal special was superb. So many flavors with every bite. The fish was fresh and delicious. The spicy tuna tartare was actually spicy yum. The rice had a smoky flavor. The yuzu salmon was simple in its taste but what a dish. Citrusy spicy, fresh salmon. Very happy with my appetizers. The lychee sake was a delight too! The hibachi show was a success too but the stir fry food was just ok, a little bland. The show is fun though! Would not hesitate to return!

Took my wife here today for a birthday dinner and it was amazing, we order so much food it was kind of funny, however we did eat it all Quick service and we were glad we made reservations because it was busy. All the staff were pleasant and attentive. We will be back for sure.
